Man caught with R1.5m rhino horn

Johannesburg - A 40-year-old man was arrested in Johannesburg after being found with a rhino horn worth about R1.5m, Gauteng police said on Wednesday.

The horn was found in his car on Wednesday after police received a tip-off and followed the man to a petrol station in Greenside, Captain Pinky Tsinyane said in a statement.

The man would appear in Johannesburg Magistrate's Court soon.

The Business Report on Friday reported that the price of rhino horn had increased to R400 000/kg, making it more expensive than gold at around R300 000/kg.

What a great black rhino, xausa, and that's a great photo, as well. God, if only those days were not a distant memory.

Damned poachers have brought us to this point, and they apparently won't stop until there are no rhino left on earth.

As for the poacher in question in this thread, I can suggest a place to store the horn until the SOB comes up for trial.

The poachers are supplying a demand. End the demand and the problem goes away.
Having said that, how do you convince the Asian buyers that powdered rhino horn won't do anything for their "horn".

True enough. It's a hard problem.
