12 Years Ago I joined this forum. I was in college, with hopes and dreams of one day going to Africa.

I didn't know just a few years later, that I would be going to RSA on my first trip. I felt that I tried to read every post on this forum to learn all that I could about hunting, traveling what caliber was best for PG etc. It helped greatly, and my first trip over was great. No problems, and a fantastic hunt. A few years after that trip, I got married and traveled around RSA, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Namibia on my honeymoon. My wife allowed me to shoot a warthog on the honeymoon so I found a keeper, I am talking about my wife being a keeper, but the warthog wasn't a half bad (in tusk size not looks). Four Years ago, we bit the bullet and booked a trip through Mark Young to hunt Buffalo and PG for 12 Days with Zambezi Hunters in 2012. This trip was also outstanding, and I poured over this website again for load choices, guns etc.

Getting started traveling and hunting in Africa I have attributed to this website. It is the knowledge that has been shared here and people that I have met through this website that is greatly appreciated. These days, I pretty much just lurk around reading posts as life has become a bit busier then when I first started on here; sitting in a dorm room and surfing AR when I should have been studying.

To whoever got me on the Double Rifle tangent. My wife still doesn't like you, but does enjoy going to Africa.

Thank you Saeed for keeping this site going so long. Thank you to the old curmudgeons years ago for passing on your knowledge of hunting and traveling in Africa, and took the time to reply back to a kids basic questions. To members who provided me knowledge those many years ago and have since gone to the Happy Hunting Grounds, a sip will be poured.

Here's to the next 12. Thank you again. Cheers Gentleman (and Ladies).

BTW. What bullet is best for hunting DG with a lever gun chambered in 45-70?

Nice Cape Buffalo.

Enjoy it while you have the time.

Glad you had an opportunity to go and enjoy the experience. Great buff, by the way. You are blessed to have a wife who enjoys your pursuits together.

Hell, I borrowed money ny for every African trip and still paying for one from 2012 and already planning next ( cancelled one due to ivory import ban this year)

I echo your thanks to the people on this board. Good stuff. I met you once in DFW on a snowy night after a convention. You seemed younger then.

Yep, I know your problem. We could have retired years ago but just keep working to fuel the fire. I dreamed of Africa for lots of years, and someone turned me on to AR. Soon I met a couple who had lived, worked, and hunted there. My fate was sealed and I started out to plan my future hunting path.

Ten years later, I have managed 5 safaris, shot 3 of the Big 5, and taken about 80 animals in 3 countries. Man, I love it when people help people achieve their dreams! Smiler
