My vote for big kudu is the lowveld of Zimbabwe and the larger ranches in Namibia. But big kudu are where you find them, and they are found all over southern Africa. Try HHK and their Lemco concession. I saw 20+ bulls a day on the Bubi River in '94. Several whoppers. Many on this site can give specific advice on Namibia. I hunted with Makadi Safaris in '99 and had good luck. Run your traps and you can find several areas with the chance for a big bull. For a guaranteed big bull, I guess it's South Africa. The game ranches there have them. I've shot some great kudu behind fences in the RSA, but they were big properties and I had to hunt my a$$ off. My best RSA bull was shot next to the Kruger on the last day at last light so you can make a real hunt in the RSA. Good luck in your search! On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died. The ranch I hunted in Namibia this past year (ERINDI) has exceptional kudu, and it is large enough to make it as hard and sporting as you want (more than 160,000 acres and numerous mountains). While my bulls were "only" 52 and 54", they were old and gorgeous to me. Several 57-60's were taken, and a friend got a 63" which was the largest ever taken there. My oldest son got his hunt booked in Reno last week, and can't wait until June! | |||
