What is your definition of food?

Plenty of places to sit in my experience.

ftg, you'll love the show, very casual and hunter-oriented. There are food vendors there, but nothing special...think eating on the boardwalk or at an amusement park. There are a number of round tables in the eating area to sit at, or you could sit a spell on the wide steps leading to the 2nd level. Beware with the wife...there's enough jewelry, furs, and art to get you in trouble :-)

Mike you have to remember: for 33 years I lived on airport, airplane and hotel food....convention food is nothing to worry about!

ftg767,

The convention center is connected to the OMNI hotel which has 3 good restaurants plus there are food trucks offering some decent fare just outside. The food available at the show is some real crap.

What Mark said!
DSC has again been kind enough to offer a room for AR members to meet & rest.
It will be outside the conv. hall & will have a sign.(I hope there's a sign)

At least you got a room, but that La Quinta isn't the best. It'll work for a place to sleep.

As others have said, the food is what you'd expect from a convention center. Mark is right about the restaurants at the hotel.

Enjoy the show!

Mike and Mark have pretty much hit on the "food" available in the show. The restaurants Mark mentions often have long waiting lists. One, a great steakhouse, is rather pricey. Given that you will be there Thursday, I suspect the crowds won't be much of an issue. Saturday, good luck.

Are there problems at the La Quinta? Wife may spend some time there alone Thursday afternoon...should I look further out from town? She would just be in room until I got back but....

It's not that bad. It's just what you expect from that chain. The neighborhood is in "transition." However, it's on the fringe of Highland Park. There are plenty of shops near there, which may be good or bad. I'm about a par 5 away. My father is about a par 3 away. I've known some outfitters that have stayed there without issue.

Look into dinner at Javier's. It's not far away, and Javier is a big time hunter. Take a stroll through the restaurant and check out his trophies. Also, try the cigar bar attached.
