I don't think so, whatever blows your skirt up suits me... I am kinda prejudice towards Butches rifles...He is just a good friend and a nice guy in my books and he makes one tough rifle that shoots little groupsm, and monolithic bullets... Ray, I'm not concerned about the weight but what of the recoil? Is a 577 at all practical? Brett

Moneywise, you'd be about even. Recoilwise, the 577 will definitely get your attention, gotta clench your teeth and keep the mouth shut tightly to keep from rattling your teeth. Why don't see if you can't light off a few and decide for yourself? If that's the deal maker or breaker, just go and check it out. Brett, If you are going on many Elephant hunts, a 577 is not a bad choice. The 577 has quite a bit more recoil than your 470. If you really want a 577 and don't mind recoil, go for it. Best, Phil http://www.go-on-safari.com Professional Hunter - Tanzania
