I am considering a sable hunt with this outfit for late August. I could not find any reports on this forum. Is anyone aware of their reputation or have first hand experience with them? Also, I would appreciate your thoughts on hunting sable at that time of year. Thanks | ||

High Desert - PM me when you get a chance. I will try and find out about the outfit you mentioned. I have never heard of them, but know folks on the ground in Moz who may. I can also give you someone else to check out that I have hunted with there four times. The outfitter associated with this is Russ Field and I am posting his website for his South African Outfit . I know him as a respected outfitter and long standing member of our Prof Hunters Association . This is as much as I can tell you . I would highly reccomend Carel Maartens of Chawalo Safaris. He has a great rep and an even better tiger fishing camp to add a bit of variety to your hunt. I believe Carel sold to Russel Lovemore? Not 100% sure but I'm sure that's how it sounded at DSC? It does not matter, as both of them are great guys and good operators. I have been working in Moz since 2009, but I have never heard off Cabassa Safaris, nor have I seen them on the quota sheets. There are a ton of Sable with reputable, well known outfits in Mozambique, so shop around a bit more. FWIW - I have no dog in this, as I have no Sable to hunt there for this year. August is plenty good if you hunt the woodlands, end of Sept or October better if you hunt the Delta and surrounding marsh lands.
