I have one of Brockman's pop-up sights on my 416 M70. It mounts behind the scope ring. Jim uses the Talley type base and mills off the rear raised stop on the back of the rear base. His sight works like the talley ring in that it slides onto the base groove and tightens on the rear of the base behind the scope ring. The ghost ring pops up when the scope is removed and is pre adjustable for windage and elevation. I think it's a great idea and very reliable. You may have to adjust your front sight. Mine was too low and needed a higher front sight and Jim helped me with that. I can shoot the open sights easier with the ghost ring than with the regular "V" barrel sight. He also makes a ghost ring sight for the lever actions. Hope this helps.

Use the Brockmon pop up peep with the gold faced square post partridge from New England Custom Guns in .700 height.. them set the Brockman peep in center elevation and file front sight down to zero..then you will have adjustment both ways for minor tuning and change of loads...Jims telephone number is 208-934-5050...If you can't contact him give me a call...

It is an excellent item, and the spring seems to be strong enough to allow mounting and dismounting without impacting point of impact. I imagine dust could cause some change in POI if it got really gunked up, but I didn't experinece that in a week of shooting at Gunsite (read VERY dusty & blowing sand). It did however stiffen after a weekend of hunting in the rain. Just a little spot of rust inside I guess, but a little dry lube and some working of the peep up and down freed it. Next time I'll work some Sentry Products Tuff-Glide dry lube in there BEFORE the rain comes.

It does not damage or mar your scope tube.

Safe Hunting,
Clint
