I got a nice Christmas gift from my first PH who worked very hard to make my first hunt (Zimbabwe/Matetsi/2006) a success; a decent buffalo and all sorts of plains game. As part of his tip, I gave him a new Ruger in .458 Lott since his FN Mauser had a pretty well shot-out barrel. He sent me the following email right before the holiday: Hi Paul You saved my life by getting me that Lott. I have just finished hunting my last hunt was quite an experience we were hunting a tuskless elephant which the client shot and then all hell broke lose I ended up shooting 2 cows in self defense with the lott which did a splendid job. hope you have a good Christmas and we still need to make a plan for you in 2011 Darren That made my day, although it was his marksmansip that saved his life.
