Good news, Frostbit. Yesterday my wife just completed month 3 of her 6 months of chemo. Hopefully she will be as fortunate as your wife. Our Africa trip is also planned for 2015, and with a little luck we'll make it. For now, we just take it day-by-day.
My prayers to your wife and family. Remember to keep that attitude up. My sister (12 years older than me) kicked breast cancer in the ass and a few years later, a brain tumor. Her attitude both times was to kick ass and take names. When she got down, I was there to give some motivational words.
Great news for Joyce. The waiting for those test results can be scary shit.

Thank you for your kind words, thoughts and prayers. Very much appreciated! This strange journey really gives a new meaning to life and just how precious it really is. As it now stands, our trip to Africa will be the prize at the end of the rainbow. Something we can look forward to when we finally put all of this behind us. Life is short .... make the most of it while you can.

Saeed,
They are all memorable for different reasons but this one will be special. Almost two full months to include 5 airlines, travel through 5 countries, all with the finale being the His & Her Leopards delayed by the cancer.
Look forward to enjoying a few days in Dubai, and we will see you in two weeks.
Cheers

I think if you looked those two words up in the dictionary you would find Joyce's picture on the page.

Cecil,
I just saw this and thanks for the feeling of closure by resurrecting this thread. In a way it was prophetic of you because Joyce mentioned to me after her Leopard went down that she felt that she was just then finished with cancer. As she explained it that Leopard hunt was the last thing that cancer tried to take from her and failed.
Cheers

Just figured I would update all those that followed Joyce's battle and may not see an update elsewhere.
Today Joyce received the results of her two year Surveillance PET Scan. The test was completely negative for any signs of malignancy. Plain English means it's negative for cancer.
Since the advent of R-CHOP treatment for Large B-Cell Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma generally if the two year follow-up testing is negative than the prognosis is very representative of a full cure. Technically though, this is still called a "remission".
Thanks again to all who have prayed, sent well wishes, and encouragement along the way. You made Joyce feel very special.
Cheers

Thanks Ernest,
We will someday visit. It's in our nature (just ask Darin Nelson). Jerry Dollar will be in your State soon so we have two reasons to head that way on a later road trip.
Please tell Emmy I would love an update on how school is going. We so much enjoyed talking with her during your visit.
You both have our numbers

eagle27Hi Jim
Joyce has a way to go to catch me yet but I am very sure she will

I received the news I had exactly the same ailment in August 2002.
Six months and 8 cycles of the aptly named CHOP, six weeks of daily radiotherapy and almost 14 years later and all I've got to complain about is that I'm not as young and fit in my 'older' years when out in the hills as I used to be. For all intents and purposes completely cured.
Its a bloody miserable treatment but have no doubt it works. The daily nagging thoughts diminish with time, I don't even think about it now, life is naturally too short for that.
May the news for Joyce continue to be good in the coming few years and at five she should be told to p..s off and don't come back, you're cured. Well that's exactly how my oncologist said it.
