Great news, Jim and Joyce!! I'll be heading back to Africa like you in 2015. I'll be taking a tall beautiful blond, my 11 year old granddaughter Maddie. Her mother is a nurse too, just like her Grandma.

FrostbitLadies & Gentlemen,
Who here has not been touched by cancer in some way? I would suggest we all have a relative or friend we know who is either fighting this disease, has won the fight, or unfortunately has passed.
Survival rates have increased. Some exciting treatment modalities are in the pipeline being studied as we speak.
I have mentioned in the past that we formed TEAM WOJO to help raise money for the American Cancer Society. I've personally researched where money donated to the ACS goes. The vast majority is used for research and patient support. Joyce personally received some of those support services and it's all free.
There's no shame in fund raising and thanks to the huge circle of people that have followed Joyce's journey we have done better than expected with an attempt to meet our fund raising goal. We are close to breaking the $10,000 mark without a single corporate sponsor.
We only have one month left until TEAM WOJO walks in the 24 hour relay here in Anchorage. I humbly request anyone that can donate please click on the link. We have received donations from $10 - $1,000. Every bit counts.
TEAM WOJO LINKThank you,
Jim & Joyce

It was great talking with you as well Jerry. As you know the "problems" from Chemo don't end with the last treatment and Joyce is coming to terms with that fact. She now realizes this is going to take time as you mentioned.
Truly helpful information from someone that has been there and done that.
Thank you
Jim & Joyce

Life has some strange twists to it!!
I'm happy to announce that our $10,000 fund raising goal has been shattered as TEAM WOJO, thanks to many kind and generous folks, just passed the $14,000 mark with three weeks left before the Relay.
The interesting twist came today when Joyce's ex-employer, that terminated her on the day she informed them of her cancer diagnosis from her hospital bed, just donated $1,000 to the cause.
Life can be an interesting ride.

jdollarFANTASTIC! cancer is a disease that will eventually affect everyone on this forum, either directly or indirectly( through a friend or family). it takes money to find treatments and cures. WELL DONE TO TEAM WOJO!

FrostbitThe Relay starts tomorrow at 6 PM here in Anchorage and runs 24 hours straight all to benefit the American Cancer Society.
I'd like to thank everyone that took the time to donate to this great cause. We thought we had a lofty goal set at $10,000.
With a little over 24 hours left we are now at $15,270 raised all from individual donations of $10 - $1,000. Such an amazing show of support literally from across the
GLOBE .
We have 30 people lined up to walk at present, including locals, friends flying in from the bush, and my Sister who flew the long flight from the East Coast to be here for the weekend.
Thanks again to all those that have contributed.
Here's the link again for any last minute contributors Cheers

Seems like I will inform.
I've now got the best news a man can get 2 years after completion of chemotherapy treatment for lymphatic cancer.
The doctor could today, Friday inform me that I am considered to be cancer-free, and now only during routine surveillance.
So today the sun is shining even more.
Africa we will soon come back

FrostbitJoyce had her first 6 month (can't believe it's been that long since chemo) follow-up PET Scan. As expected it's negative. She's doing well but she was afraid if the test showed anything it would screw up our 2015 extended hunt in Zim & Moz.

ftbtGood news, Frostbit. Yesterday my wife just completed month 3 of her 6 months of chemo. Hopefully she will be as fortunate as your wife. Our Africa trip is also planned for 2015, and with a little luck we'll make it. For now, we just take it day-by-day.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Day by day is a good way to attack it. Joyce used a lot of Crossfit analogies. She looked at the whole chemo series as a "chipper" workout and just focused on one round at a time, recovery from it, strength building for the next round, and then marching forward. Oncology Physical Therapy was really helpful as well and if your Oncologist hasn't ordered it ask him to.
Regards
Jim
