Hey,

I dream about hunting in Africa all the time, problem is I'm a poor student right now and don't have the money! I envy you guys...

Anyway, I was wondering if any of you would recommend any of the Sullivan videos...Death by the Ton, etc? I am thinking of buying one, but they are pretty darn pricey.

Any recommendations on the best one (best cape buff charges, etc) would be greatly appreciated!

Phil

Sulivan displays questionable ethics in some of his videos and in some of his videos there is no questions at all. He purposely prolongs the life of a dying animal in hopes of inducing a charge for the camera. He also shoots the clients game for him as often as not. If these things don't bother you so be it. That said he has some excellent footage. (I just can't get past his ethics). There are better videos out there for learning about safari. Boddington's new DVD on buffalo comes to mind.

Although cartridge selection is important there is nothing that will substitute for proper first shot placement. Good hunting, "D"

I didn't know that...had no idea...I hate hunters who don't have respect for the animals they harvest. Maybe I will look into the Boddington videos. Thanks.

Motme..
I bought maybe 6-7 of Marks videos on Ebay-the old or "cheaper" ones.I like them all and appreciate the difficulty shooting a real life hunting video.
I am not ashamed standing up in front of a large AR crowd that dislikes him, mostly apparently for his "questionable ethics"
Maybe there is truth in the accusation.
As far as I am concerned -he behaves, shoots and tells an interesting tale in his Video, far more intresting than any others I had the pleasure.

Its entertainment and a bit real,it depicts africa in abridged version,as hours of tracking without action are boring. They are a bit of self propmotion etc,,so what.In the final they are excellent african hunting videos.Dont take everything literally and enjoy.
They sure ccan help ignite the interest in an african hunt

It amazes me that the same people that revel in Capstick will berate Sullivan. Both are inspiring to me. Capstick didn't do all of the things he wrote about. And Sullivan over emphasizes the charge aspect of the business. Both add a bit of spice to the story. I own over 200 African hunting videos and they all have something special too offer. I think that some of the bad shooting I have seen on some vidios more than off sets the sensationalization that Sullivan does.
