My wife and I were thinking of taking our grandson to an SCI show in the future. Does anyone know what the rules are for that. Does the youngster need to be a SCI member also?

I would certainly hope not, but sometimes greed knows no boundaries.

Wish I had taken him down to the DSC show last week. First time I had been to DSC and didn't know what to expect. Very nice show and saw several young hunters.

You can pick up children's passes for free at the SCI convention. I take some of my grandchildren every year.

Having been to more than 20 years of the SCI event, I would only caution safety be paramount when bringing children.

It is very easy for small people to be overlooked when the aisles are crowded and kids can go missing, just as at any event. Also they can grab at items displayed adjacent to the aisles if not properly supervised - you don't want to pay for a fur coat that the grandchild wanted to feel but still had mustard on his hands from his hot dog lunch! No touching the taxidermy without permission. And all attendees may not be upstanding citizens and invariably some drunks will show up.

Under age 18, it's free admission with a member.

I'm taking my 3 kids this year for their first time.

I took my oldest grand daughter to the convention when she was six years old. It didn't cost anything to get her in the show. It was interesting to say the least.

Thanks for all the good information. I understand completely the need for supervision (good thing he doesn't like mustard!). He is a very mature 8 year old so we shouldn't have too much trouble. 1000's of questions will be the biggest concern.

I hope you will both enjoy the show. Do be prepared for his feet to get tired, as yours will!
