I'm thinking about Cameroon as a possibly safari destination in Feb,05. It would be a Savannah hunt for Lord Darby Eland, Buffs and all of those attractive antelope species. Can anybody give me any general advice? I am not the most experienced African Hunter but have hunted Zim three times and SA once. I,d like some advice on medical stuff, gun problems (i see they have a fair number of requirements), clothes, and anything else. Thanks Cigani2

I have been to Cameroon 4 times and know many of the outfitters there. I took a Derby in 99 and enjoyed the hunt. Email me if you would like any info. Wendell Reich and myself book for Pierre Guerrini who owns Faro West which is by FAR the best Lord Derby operation. Mike Mike

Mike - I read in Wendell's flyer that the hunt is 15-days, are these all hunting days, or does it include some travel? What I have seen is that some of the other Giant Eland hunts in Cameroon are 10-12 days, which seems a bit short perhaps considering the difficulty of the hunt (especially in a lesser concession), and if one is looking to take the additional animals available on quota. I think the extra days w/Faro West would be a big benefit here. Regards, Bill

There is some travel involved but not much. You hunt most of the 1st and the 15th if not all based on flights. Pierre's area has a huge number of the "secondary" species, so it really is no trouble getting the animals you want. Mike'
