I have been running a thread in the Cartridge Collecting forum looking for .404 Jeffery cartridges for an article I have in the works. So far I have an original Kynoch, an A-Square dummy round and an RWS cartridge.

I am looking for a (new production) KYNAMCO cartridge and one from Norma.

thanks...jim dodd

I have some Norma brass handloaded with Woodleigh bullets, if that would help...I also have a box IDM (?) original German 10.75x73 (404) silver solids.. I just tore hell out of the shop and can't find them but if I do I will let you know.

Rusty & Ray,

Thanks you both for the replies, but I don't need any handloads -- just factory stuff.

I am trying to document the differences in ammunition and chambers from the CIP European standard to what you can get in North America. In 1993 there were three American rifles announced in .404 Jeffery, but by 1995 all were gone. I am working on documenting why.

Today I received a DWM 10.75X73 cartridge by the way.

Norma loaded 404 Jeffery for Parker-Hale. I dont think they ever put their own name on.

I will be very interested in your article. Where will it be and when? Must I wait for the magazine?

Art,

When I started on the article I assumed it would run in African Hunter; however, as it has come along the content (so far anyway)dictates it would make more sense to place it in a U.S. publication. I am not finished with my investigation though.

So I am thinking it will go in Safari. [Wink]

Jim

If you try for Safari it could be years, if ever. With Safari being phased out and replaced with the new magazine we will never see it.

I guess you should publish it here (for positive input only [Wink] ).

I think that it would fit very well in African Hunter. Most of the readers are not from Africa and would find it interesting, I am sure.

Mickey,

I admit to funnin' Art a bit because he has been so hard on the SCI publications. I did put a smiley after my comment. [Wink]
