Mag Lite is good but it is nice to have any flashlight that does not have the dark spot in the center of the beam. Those kind of lights are hard to come by.
But... a big Mag Lite in an "altercation" is a very good flashlight!

I got a Streamlight T3. There are 2 versions: they come with a xenon builb or a new superbright LED. Both put out 100 lumens. The xenon has an adjustable beam and a one hour duration with the lithium batteries. The LED run at 100 lumens for 9 hours, with a diminished beam lasting to around 50 hours with the same batteries. That's the one I got. Push button instant-on or twist to leave it on. I wanted long duration for night hikes over extended trips and also the availability of a high intensity beam. I looked at the Aviator and the Twin Task. I like this T3.

I used to have a surefire they called "Leopard light". Unfortunately I gave it away and seems to be out of production
