I just wanted to share with you the latest brain wave from our resident genius. I was making 277 caliber bullets, and he was watching me enter the details into the CNC lathe. Walter "Why are you changing these numbers?" Me "Because I am changing the caliber from 375 to 277" Walter " But why are you changing THOSE numbers?" Me " To go down from 375 to 277!" Walter "What happens if you change other numbers?" Me "OK, I will humour you, which numbers you want me to change?" Walter "Can I do it myself?" Me " Not on your life mate. You are NOT touching my machine! The last time you touch it it was out of action for months!" Walter "That was an accident" Me "Look at the bullet, and tell me what you want to change, and I will do it for you" Walter "How about we reduce the friction in the barrel as the bullet passes through?" Me " You mean you wan to reduce the diameter of the bullet in the middle?" Walter "Yes!" I changed the design as his lordship asked, and got the above bullet you see on the left. It is next to a normal Walterhog 300 grain in 375 made a few minutes earlier.

Looks like a .375 H&H on a diet. Tell Walter he has a future in the weight loss industry. Just dial in the "figure" you want and there you are!

Walter got another bee in his bonnet, eh? First the Walterhog, now the Walterwasp! Brilliant!!! Saeed, Thanks for the best photo of a Walterhog .375/300-grainer yet seen here! The Walterhog .375-caliber seems to have less bearing surface than the Walterwasp .277-caliber! Thus the Walterwasp is a failure compared to the Walterhog from the get-go. Surely Walter did not specify the major diameter of the bullet to bore diameter of .270, but left it at groove diameter of .277. I assume the base of the nose ogive is bearing, just barely, on the Walterwasp, then a single broad bearing band below the waistline/wasteline, and the same meplat and hollowpoint dimensions on the .277 as the .375. That should be explosive if you get it moving fast enough. Float like a butterfly, sting like a wasp! If you have enough magazine room to seat that bullet on the single broad driving band without a crimp, it might be shootable, but for what purpose? Only Walter knows? .395-Caliber: Not Dead Yet! My thoughts exactly when I looked at the thread. Even the rocks don't last forever.

The Walterwasp bullet is a totally different design from the old Herters Wasp Waist of the 1950s. The Herters bullet had the main bearing surface ahead of the wasp waist, and a tiny trailing bearing surface behind the wasp waist. The genius of Walter is that he has done just the opposite of this, and made it very difficult to find a cartridge/rifle-magazine combination that the Walterwasp will function in. Brilliant comedian! I suspect marijuana here too. .395-Caliber: Not Dead Yet! Coming soon, the ".375/404 Jeffery Saeed of 2012" aka ".375-2012."

Now you need to design a plastic sabot for it, like the 12 ga slugs use and you could actually shoot it and hit something

The aesthetics of the bands in the "waist" are awesome. Reminds me of Walter's circumfrential flutes at the end of Saeeds .300 barrel.

Hah! I'll wager that it's better than a Match King, or even a Game King, and certainly better than a Ballistic Tip, at least on Cape buffalo. Mike Wilderness is my cathedral, and hunting is my prayer.

Actually, it's kind'a sexy -- shaped just the way I like my women shaped! (Minus the fat rolls in the middle).

I believe that the "roll" is just below the waist, which seems appropriate. Frank "I don't know what there is about buffalo that frightens me so.....He looks like he hates you personally. I, too, was reminded of George Leonard Herter when I saw this. Maybe not too big a stretch when compared to Walter!
