I'm hoping I can get some advice...

I'm relocating to Dubai in a few weeks and I intend to ship my entire house contents less alcohol and food.

The Shipping guys came to give me an estimate today. When he saw my hunting trophies - kudu, implala, zebra skin, various roebucks etc, he said that these would not be allowed through UAE customs. I am struggling to believe this is true, unless there is one law for UAE nationals and another for others.

Advice please! Saeed..?

Saeed would be the one to answer that.

I know that expats are not allowed to own firearms in the UAE.

Good luck with the move and get ready for a lot of warm weather here in Dubai.

What would you do with your trophies if you can not bring them to Dubai?

Richard,

There is no law that says you cannot bring in your trophies into the country.

I have the same problem with shippers each time I get mine.

Tell the shippers to check with Dubai customs. I am sure they will tell them the same thing.

Does anyone know the procedure for transiting through Dubai with rifles on Emirates? Have emails in to two locations in Dubai as Emirates said need prior permission.

Ask Emirates, they should be able to know what to do.

Bush and Cheney would probably receive a warm welcome in that country for, if for no other reason, keeping the extremists too busy to impose their wacko religious ideas on what is rapidly becoming the world's playground. Dodging Hellfires fired from drones and trying to avoid getting your ticket to paradise punched by SEAL teams, SOF, Delta and Rangers tends to keep the jumping Allah monkeys from creating too much trouble for the true peace loving Muslims.

I am certain we would all be extremely surprised to learn the full extent of the aid and comfort that tiny and very rich nation has given to the US in the global war on terror.

I flew thru Dubai last summer on the way to Dar. Call emirates 1-800 number and tell them you are traveling with a sporting rifle. they'll ask for the gun serial number. Then check bag like normal.

Make the call a couple of weeks ahead of time and call again to make sure all is well the week of the flight.

Same goes for bows as well.

Emirates did not want to book in my bow when I came back from South Africa in May.

Coming back at the end of August I will bring my bow back but this time I will have their approval before I go home for vacation.

Thanks for the help. Have filled out a form and sent it in to Emirates. The woman on the phone has no idea about travelling, but she checked and good to go.

Other than going through JFK Emirates is working out to be the best deal and best routing.
