According to the paper, both East Africa and West Africa showed sharp declines. Southern Africa's wildlife populations have actually increased - despite what the quote below says. Central Africa wasn't mentioned - and I'll bet the East Africa data show a great difference between Tanzania and Kenya, but it isn't given.

Apparently the countries in Southern Africa have figured out a way to manage their wildlife populations successfully. I wonder what it is? Roll Eyes

I'd upload the PDF if there was a place to do so here. I can't give a link as it's password protected.

Something for the suggestion box - add a way to upload PDF files. Could be a great resource. No?

From the report: "Indices for different parts of Africa demonstrate large regional differences, with southern African PAs typically maintaining their populations and western African PAs suffering the most severe declines."

Anyone who has been to The Mara will know that declines are largely due to animals being run over by the damned minibusses.

Hunting should be brought back in Kenya on private estates and selected tribal land in key areas. But the politicians are on another planet.
