Ian's menorial service was held this afternoon at the home of his old 'parks friend "Tokkie" Lind, who's libarary Ian spent most of the last six months.

It was certainly a gathering of who's who in hunting and widlife conservation in Zim. The service was taken by Charlie Haley, with the Eulogy given by Don Heath. Others known to the forum who were there included Buzz Charlton and Andy Hunter. Old John Nothcote, was probably the oldest PH present. John is 86 and only quit as a PH 6 years ago.

There were half a dozen of the first generation parks officers there from when the department of wildlife management was formed in 1960.

As befitted Ian, I managed to pour with rain whilst the sun was shining brightly. He always did things differently! In death as well as life!

Sounds like a very respectful gathering. We have Buzz to thank for giving us a glimpse of Ian for those of us that never met him.

May he rest in peace.

I am now reading Months of the Sun for the first time. My copy of the new Safari Press second edition arrived about a week ago.

Nyschens writes with a rare kind of honesty.

He tells his story from an intensely personal perspective, and that is what I like most about it. I would have liked to have known him.
