The Dallas Ft.Worth chapter of SCI had Mr. Boddington as its speaker last night. He had his books for sell also and had a little time for hand shakes and visits. After his talk we had many questions about hunting Africa. Very good speaker! This guy is 49 or 50 years old and has made over 40 safaris! Whow! He just got back from a safari that he took his 17 year old daughter and her friend on. Untill a few weeks before they left she was an anti-hunter. As it got close to the time to go she asked if they should not go to the range so she could make a clean shot on her zebra..... she wanted a rug for her room. Before the hunt was over she and her friend both took zebra, kudu, gemsbok and a few others. They wanted animals with pretty skins to make purses. One thing he said was interesting to this bowhunter. He said your favorite deer rifle, 270 and up, would be great for most everything. He did say a 375 was needed for the eland, buffs and so on. He also added he does like 30 cals and does not like 7MM;s. He shared his views on many things like the best place to hunt the different animals, the come back of many of them and how hunting for most is better then ever, but maybe not where they use to be. They also raffeled a custom Sako 375 for $20 a chance. One lucky guy sure had a smile on his face at the end of the night. He won the rifle and I won a SCI shirt and video tape??? Oh well, better then nothing. They annouced that it was one of the larger turn outs to date. Maybe 175 were there. Great time exchanging stories, meeting new friends, eating dinner and having a few drinks. | ||
