I agree with you 100%. They don't care about the facts, they just don't agree with our position and, unfortunately, we are outnumbered. They definitely are more vocal than we are as a group.

Macs BThere have been a lot of good comments in this thread, and more than a few naive comments. A businessman like Aaron is faced with a simple question concerning social media. Join or fail.
In this day and age you can not do business without capitalizing on social media. This doesn't necessarily apply to all facets of business, yet. Given time it will. These organized witch hunts on FB are going to have to be addressed. The mob rule mentality is dangerous when it can prevent you from reaching literaly billions of potential clients.

Really? How many here have booked any hunts because of a booking agents FB page? Anyone out there??
Any serious business person has their own web page.
But hey, my FB stock sure jumped after hours today...

Macs BAccording to Facebooks MAR 14 Earning report:
Facebook says it now has 1.11 billion people using the site each month..665 million active users at any time of any given day of the month...297 million active (paid service) business client pages... So your contention is that since no one on AR is a fan, the other 1.11 Billion with a "B" users who visit Facebook daily aren't worth a business' consideration to reach out and develope new customers. I think 297+ million businesses currently paying facebook for the space might disagree.

Ever think that maybe its just people from Arizona that don't use facebook?

Outfitter/Booking agent is FAR more specialized than the average business that is selling an inexpensive product.
No one in their right mind believes that FB is selling many hunts or bringing in many viewers to TV shows. It is simply a tool to reach out to fans.
FB may be a tool but it is not the #1 tool of anyone in the hunting industry. If FB were as powerful as you say SCI would sure be feeling the bite as there would not be many people spending $5,000+ for a table at their show

MJinesHCC,
Let me commend you for your courage and forthrightness. Nothing says I am an upfront person that acts with integrity like calling someone out using initials, a nom de plume, an acroynm, other, and withholding your contact details. I guess that is why in our judicial system the accused has the right to confront his accusers. If you are comfortable with your position and your views, why not just man (or woman) up and stand behind those views by disclosing your name and affiliation?

The conclusion that Aaron is a convicted poacher from the documents posted is a massive overstatement. The ruling was a denial of an appeal for reinstatement of a license.

At the very least, the other poster, HCC who is a new member, should at least have the guts to post his real name.
You pleaded guilty to it. If you are innocent you don't plead guilty.
Why should I put my name here? It doesn't matter who I am, there are plenty of others using initials or aliases

HCC,
And anyone who cares to listen to your BS.
I have personally known Aaron Neilson for several years. I have dealt with him in many aspects of the hunting world and in other professional activities.
He has always been one of the most forthright, straight-forward, up-front, and honest persons that I have ever known.
I count him as a personal friend and will happily stand beside him in defense of this BS.
You are a coward!

MJinesAnonymous posters and anonymous cowards are two very different things. You are obviously either ashamed, embarrassed or afraid to share your name. That is fine, just do not try to portray yourself as anything other than what you are. Aaron does not run from who he is and what he stands for, neither should you.

larryshoresTotally off the subject of bashing Aaron but potentially entertaining .
A hunter started receiving threatening calls from some whack job woman who was very anti-hunting. Wished the hunter and his family all slow painful deaths. She called often not bothering to hide her phone number. This hunter has posted the woman's name and phone number on Facebook. Hunters have been asked to give her a call.

You must be kidding me!
The whole legal system is slanted towards people pleading guilty - even if they were not - so as to avoid a lengthy trial and put a feather in some idiot beaurocrat's hat!
And from the link you have posted, that is precisely what I would deduce!
26 July 2014, 07:50
NavalukI read the attached documents. It looks like HCC isn't lying. Whether he has some ax to grind I don't know. I don't care either.
Saeed, the system does promote pleading guilty to small crimes or infractions like speeding, but the document indicates he plead guilty to charges unlike speeding. These were charges likely to damage his business interests so I don't see pleading because it's a hassle to fight it. I think you would find few if any people would plead to those charges just because it's expensive or a hassle to fight them. Then of course I wonder if he plead down to these from worse charges, which is very common in the US.
26 July 2014, 07:57
MJinesThe document speaks for itself. Let each person draw their own conclusions, particularly those that have never made a mistake themselves. But the manner in which this was raised, with someone feeling the need to throw a turd on the table while hiding behind the anonymity afforded them by the internet, was quite simply chicken shit . . . in my view.

Sadly, I think Randall's point is on the mark. To the point of using screen names of something other than you real name. I personally don't believe there is really anything wrong with using one, but for those using your real name, I believe you tend to be a bit more polite and less apt to engage in nitpicking.
I chose to change my screen name to my "real" name about a year ago. I must honestly say, I have been more polite, which has allowed for more civil and deeper conversing with other members.
Perhaps if other did the same, that might be but a small step in the right direction.

If I have or haven't a personal gripe with Aaron is not the issue here, he broke the law.
The defense is he was only young it was minor offense.
He only plead guilty to make things easy. The US legal service is corrupt
Yet you will sit behind your keyboard saying how bad the African is for setting a snare so he can take a buck to feed his family. I am not talking Elephant or Rhino poaching here that's a different story.
As for not using my real name, I have my reasons, but as I said I'm not the only 1 and if that makes me a coward then I'm not the only 1 on here am I? What's wrong someone hiding behind an alias or someone who breaks the law?

Here is a quote from Aaron. Is this you Stuart?
3. Stuart Mauney - The guy making these accusations here hunted with us in roughly 2004 as I recall. He was booked by Garth Carter, who warned me before-hand about Stu, I should have taken his advice! I have honestly never experienced a person who is so rude, unruly, obnoxious, and un-realistic, ever. He was rude to the guides, to the poor/unfortunate client from NY who was paired with him on the 2x1 muzzleloader hunt, the people in the restaurant, the hotel, etc. He left his hunt early, filed a complaint with the Colorado Licensing board - making numerous false claims. All of us sent in rebuttal letters, INCLUDING THE HUNTER FROM NEW YORK WHO WAS PAIRED WITH HIM, DISPUTING ALL OF HIS SLANDEROUS CLAIMS. After getting all of the letters, the licensing board sent me notice that the complaint was dropped for lack of collaborating evidence. In other words - Stuart was not truthful in his account of his hunt. Folks, some hunters simply don't understand that when hunting wild/free-ranging game, you are only buying an opportunity - not an animal. Regardless, I'm not sure anyone could keep Stuart Mauney happy. FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT ARE MEMBERS OF "THE HUNTING REPORT", SIMPLY DO A SEARCH OF REPORTS SUBMITTED BY STUART MAUNEY. You will see that complaining about hunts is his normal game. I seriously do not think he can be made happy on a hunt.

HCC...

I know Aaron. He is a good fellow.
I don't know you but just because how you have done things...I know you are not.
Let it lie sir move on (whatever you need to move on from???). I made equal mistakes in life (if not worse) when I was the age Aaron was when whatever happened went down.
If you do have issue with him...just talk with him...he is actually quite approachable. But don't go down this route any more.

I bet that every single one of us has broken one law or another in almost any given week we live!!
Our society has been filled with an extraordinary amount of so many silly laws that we cannot carry on our normal lives without breaking one!
Especially in the US.
In regards to FB itself - I'm neither female or gay, consequently, it has no bearing whatsoever on or in my life.

I've decided that I have had enough of the Anti's crap. So, today Russ Broom posts a picture of a fantastic lion that Keith Atcheson shot with him two days ago in Makuti. Some woman comes on and says it is a shame. So I engaged in a spirited dialogue with her in an effort to rebut her negative comment
Two can play the comment game. They don't seem to like it so much when it is thrown back in their faces.
