Well I did it bid and wom my first auction hunt
The new england sci chapter had a mozambique hunt with Mokore safairs up for bid. I never thought I would get to hunt here or with this company, but they were on my short list of places if I ever did get to go to Moz.
It is a 10 day sable plains game hunt I won with one Obsever also. Cant wait to reach out to them and work out all the details as I know this will take more planning then my SA and namibia hunts I have done.

fairgameWell done and you will be with one of the best operators in Africa. There will be not much more planning and a pair of jeans and a 30.06 would do you well.
There will be tsetse flies and malaria so protect yourself.
You will be looking at a mature Sable bull and do not hold back for length.

Thank you and I hope the 300 win mag and 180 grain barnes will do the trick and if can be done there will take the bow with. I am thinking sable and some of the tiny ten they have and then see what else the area will give me chances at.

AnotherAZWriterCongrats Bcap! I had my foot operated on so I have held back on booking Africa until I am sure I can walk ok. I did book one late Oct elk hunt and two deer hunts in Dec - foot should be ok by then.

Hearty Congrats! Coutada 9 is one of the best PG areas in Southern Africa. I've had many happy clients there and I think you'll be blown away. Do kill a warthog there. They are plenty and huge.

This was Doug's advice to me concerning warthog in Coutada 9, "set aside money for 2 warthog trophy fees. You will see a large one and shoot it, then you will see a bigger one and want to shoot it also"

Same applies for Kudu in Coutada 9, lots of big Kudu, you will see shooter's daily if you are looking for them, go as late in the year as you can if you can handle the heat!!

MartyI hunted with Gary in 2015, both C9 and Mokore camp in the Save’ Conservancy.

lavacaI second what Andrew said about shooting a mature bull with a lot of secondary growth. But if you've got that, I wouldn't worry too much about length. I've got two sable floor pedestal mounts, one on either side of my fireplace in my living room. Both are old, with a lot of secondary growth. One is very heavy. The other is quite a bit longer, but much thinner. They are both great trophies.
Have a great time. Sable are one of the premier and most beautiful species.
I have passed om many sable in SA in the dreams of hunting a true wild sable one day and I guess I will be living that dream out. I would rather have a nice old thick based sable then a super long one. I hope to just fine one with the nice arch to the horns and thick

I have on my phone, a video Doug sent me of a 32" Nyala, they watched it for 20 min. and he could not convince the client to shoot. Keep your eyes open for that one.
I have a 29 1/2 from natal and hunting nyala again this year. I dont know I could pass up a 32 nyala that is a once in a lifetime animal
You are in for something special. Great hunting, people, food, and camp. Trust the Duckworths, they will put you on high quality animals. Can't even start to describe the amount of plains game. Take extra pig money and if you're a kudu guy, you will probably take your personal best. Like Gale said, go later and be ready to hunt in the heat.
You won't want to come home!
I just dont know about hunting when it is hot as I hate hot weather. I have only ever hunted june july or aug so far in namibia and SA.
I know with wanting some tiny 10 it would be better when grass has died off. I hope to do the hunt in aug of 2023. Sept I could have an elk tag so hope aug is good or even july. Hope to talk with them soon and get it figured out.

jdollarI hunted Coutada 10 next door in mid October a few years ago. It was hotter than a 4 ball tomcat in a pepper patch. I was used to summers in the Central Valley of CA where summer is typically 100-110. Sleeping was a bigger problem than hunting. Good luck but beware the heat in late season.
