Check out the new June/July issue of North American Hunter (8.50,000 circ.)My article from last summer's bowhunt in Namibia is in there, and they left a lot of good AR plugs in.

1) "Accurate Reloading forums, which seems to be the most knowledgeable and active community of experienced African hunters on the Net."- plus another paragraph about meeting and hunting with folks from the forum.

2)Article ends with "click web extras at Huntingclub.com to visit the Accurate Reloading Forums"

3)They left in a paragraph about Kathi Klimes and Wild Travel including web address and e-mail.

4) Lots of Info on Roger Coomber and Vieranas Safaris including web address.

5) Paragraph on Karl Stumpfe and Ndumo Safaris and a link to get more info.

I have to say that the team of NAH editors left my piece as I wrote it, and let all the info I wanted to share about the benefits of AR and some of the members here stay in the piece...for that I thank them...

TIM when did your copy arrive? I'm a Life member of North American hunting club, and I don't think my copy has come yet!

Tim

Read the piece last week. Excellent article for the person looking to do a hunt across the pond. I was also floored that the editors allowed the plug for AR and Kathi.

I just got mine yesterday...

I was pleased with the editing and leaving in the info about the fine folks here.
Actually, they have been allowing about 1-2 pieces a year dealing with Africa.

Shockey has done some, and I already have an assignment for next year if I kill a leopard with KarlS in Namibia in July.

It makes sense. We're North American hunters who like to hunt around the world.
I think a lot of deer-only hunters still have an interest in reading about other types of hunting, even if they're not planning to partake of them themselves.
But Tim, I'm confused. I just went through my June/July NAH twice and don't see your article. Mine has a mulie buck on the cover and the bowhunting article is about mule deer as well.

DB...mine has the mulie on the cover too, but it says it has a Bowhunting Special Section - article is on pages F-L in that section??

Not sure if this special section is only in some magazines or what?? Now I am confused...

I agree that lots of deer hunters or N Am Hunters like to read about other hunts, or aspirational type hunts. That was a lot of what my piece was about - that Africa doesn't have to be aspirational - you can PG hunt for the same $ as a good elk hunt...

I love reading about hunts that I know I'll never go on - Bongo, Mt Nyala, Full Bag Tanzania, etc. That is why I like reading all Craig's stuff, and really enjoy Sports Afield. I want to go on those trips through those writers who are lucky enough to do it and share it. I wish more mags would include more adventure pieces rather than how to stuff. The editors say readers really want the how to - but how many ways can you talk about hunting the whitetail rut, how to hang a treestand near a travel cooridor, etc.? I still write some how to, but I have to make myself sit down and write it, it is a joy to write about a good hunt or a great destination.

My copy doesn't have that section at all. I called Member Services at NAHC and they said they weren't aware of a different edition, but they're sending me another copy that should be here in 7-21 days.

And you're right. We're up to our necks in 'How-to". I just like to read a good hunting story now and then. Especially if it's about a hunt I've wanted to do, but haven't been able to yet.

Mine came with the article by Tim. Nicely done Tim. I was surprised as well that they left the AR and Kathi plugs in. Good stuff.

Don't take the magazine (membership) so I'm only guessing this statement says more about the quality of your writing then their editing! Editors love it when the writer does their job for them.

Well, I hope it means my writing was good, but I do know that both Gordy Krahn and Dave Maas are both very good editors.

That being said, seems like many mags pull all mentions of anything that isn't from a paid advertiser, and it was refreshing to see these mentions left in as they are helpful (though not paid for).

Sorry guys...just talked to the editorial staff. They say the mags with the bowhunting section go out to subscribers who have shown an interest in bowhunting. I don't know if that is by survey, when you order a subscription or what...there is some way that the deliniate bow enthusiasts, and that special section goes in their magazines and it is about 300,000 they say. It is part of the mag though, so they must run 2 different copies.

Mine didn't have it either and the above comment makes sense as I am not a string and sticker.
