Both the Dugger boy Buffalo and Eland were taken with 320grn Woodleigh solids and 300grn Swift A frame bullets from my 9.3x62 Husky fitted with a 4X Schmidt & Bender scope during a short hunt with Jumbo Moore's Kambako Safaris with Stuart Taylor as Professional hunter. The Safari took place in the remote Cabo Delgado Provence of northern Mozambique . We met at Afton Lodge and boarded the Saturday flight from Johannesburg to Pemba and then a Sunday flight with Kambako Safaris Cessna 207 from Pemba to Kambako air field in the Niassa Reserve Safari block B. Kambako Safaris has two main camps and one Fly camp throughout the 350'000 acre Safari area which is over 650'000 with the adjacent Coutarda. A big area when considering I had it to my self for most of my stay. Niassa area is not the area for a big numbers trophy hunt but rather a classic safari area for a select number of quarry. The area has big Elephant with minimum size of 60lbs allowed and a good possibility for 80lbs+. There are good numbers of Leopard and Lion and reasonable numbers of Buffalo, Eland and select plains game. I was after an old Buffalo and Eland . I did find it hard hunting with tracking of game for up to seven hours with the game often on the move till after mid day where the after noon swirling winds would betray our presence. Although the Eland I took was big with great horns, the old blue Bulls eluded us. Temperatures can get quite high in this area and although it did get quite hot we were blessed with nice cool breezes and afternoon thunderstorms. The day time temperature in the shade was around 38c most of the time. There was no evidence of poaching but it seemed that the predators such as Lion, Wild Dog, Hyena and Leopard put pressure on the game. Although some small game such as Diker would let us walk right past them with out a worry . We would often stop and watch sable and they too would not be to concerned while we were in the Cruser. Malaria and the Tsetse fly can be bad in this region so its best to be prepared . PH Stuart Taylor at the Fly camp sitting out another impressive thunder storm.

Nice trophies, well done. Please can you post more info about the hunt or PM me with regards to game numbers etc, etc. I am really interested in hunting in Northern Moz in time to come. What are the buffalo populations like? Leopard? Eland? Costs? Camp? size of area? signs of poaching? Plainsgame density? Bushbuck? Look forward to hearing more Thanks

Well Done The 9.3 strikes again Frederik Cocquyt I always try to use enough gun but then sometimes a brainshot works just as good.

Congratulations and well-done Adam... both trophies are excellent but that eland is very nice. Good to see the 9.3 being put thru her paces. Congratulations! Super looking eland, and that old daga boy buff is so ugly he's beautiful. I am hearing great things about Moz around here lately! Mike Wilderness is my cathedral, and hunting is my prayer.

So Adam how did those 320 grainers performed? I can see the sling is off so there was a follow up and those couple of neck shots must be there for a reason?

Mouse93, While hunting in the thick Jesse bush I often removed the sling. The 320grn solids worked great with full penetration on all but one shot where we recovered one bullet in the guts in perfect condition. The solids had a low velocity of 2230fpsMV which produced little felt recoil and great straight line penetration even after traveling through bush.
