I just got a quote for a 14 day Leopard, Buffalo plus plainesgame. The quote is 26K plus 8K for Leopard and Sable trophy fees.

The quote is for Zambia. I love the PH but I am afraid the price is just too much.

Hunt is for 2006.

Wow! that's a hard nut to crack!!!! Eeker

You should think Zim, I went there for almost half that!

Zim has very good Buff, Leopard, and Sable...

Give Barry at Buffalo Range Safaris a yell, I think you'll like the price and the quality if the safari

A quick check of prices on the internet finds that quote is a bit high.

I found quotes for $22,400, $23,300, $24,500, 26,250 and on John du Plooy's website his quote was only $18,200 not sure this quote included buffalo, it was for a 14 day leopard safari. [None of the quotes included charter, just Daily Rate and Concession Fee].

Regards,

Terry

I found the same issues in Zambia - my quote was for $2000 per day with a 14 day min., then the taxes, then the trophy fees and on and on. Back to Zim or Namibia for my flock.

Sprig - Are you looking for other options, or trying to rationalize the cost of this and get past the sticker shock?

I just looked back at your trophies from the previous hunt w/Dave, the kudu, bushbuck and 44.5" buffalo sure were nice. You are going to be hard-pressed to find an area elsewhere that can produce the same quality animals and experience, and leopard and free-range sable are two sought after trophies. What would be expensive is if you had to go back a second time for either of these.

S&S does not have the reputation of being the least expensive...but did that price include the charter/transfer? What are the day-rates? Was the "concession fee" the killer?

Regards,
Bill

Bill C.

The day fee of 2K iss stiff. And yes I was pleased as could be with SS. I am just struggling with 40K TTL.

Bullsprig, assume you hunted Zambia with S&S. All those guys are good friends. Who was your PH, Adam Bueske, Kobus, Doug. Best outfit I have hunted with now in Tanzania and Zimbabwe. Bruce Watson has been my PH and will be every time I can manage it.

The only way I could afford to hunt zambia was to do a 10 day buffalo hunt. The sable and cats require minimums and a huge added gma fee. It was a neat place to hunt but it was out of my league except for buffalo and plains game. If you are paying 40 k then you should be hunting lion and big elephant. Zims leopard are just as big as Zambias but Zambia has huge sable , I really saw some dandies in Mulobesi.

BigBear, Dave was my PH and he was great. Wanted to go to Mulobaesi for Sable and Leopard.
Still not sure since it will be a 40K hunt.

Goose, the bull was 44.5 and about 8-10 years old.
