I saw one of these and don't know anything about this caliber. How does it compare to say a 375 H&H?

it shoots 15 grains less bullet weight about 100-200 fps slower.................a very minor differnce.

but the 375 dose have a edge exp when loaded with the new 350's from woodliegh

700 is right, but it is even closer than that in a double rifle if both are chambered for the flanged form! The 375 Flanged Magmum is only about 100 fps or a little less faster than the 9.3X74R, and though the 375 is normally loaded with the 300 gr bullet, with the option of the heavy bullet from Woodliegh, the 9.3 is normally loaded with a 286 gr, but also has a 320 gr option from Wooliegh. In a close in shooting fest, the heavy bullets from either pose no regulation problem. With that thought in mind, both are very close to being equal at close range, and with heavy solids. Both being in doubles, that pose little recovery time to get off the second shot, I'd not be afraid to take on Buffalo with either. In a close charge, the only thing that will terminate it is, a shot to the CNS, and either will do that for you. Would I rather have one of the .450s, hell yes! They will work however. I have two doubles chambered for 9.3X74R, and am about to buy another rifle so chambered. That fact, and the fact that I have 375s as well, and some .450s, as well as a 470NE, still doesn't turn me sour on the little 9.3s for Buffalo, and they are excellent for cats, and anything in North America. thumb beer

I've shot a fair amount of game with the round, including lion, but I at least wouldn't use it on buff, hippo, ele, or the like Nor would I use it where anything could happen at longer ranges, say in excess of 200 yds.

I have shot a lot of North American game with my 9,3x74R Chapuis Double. I took it to Zim in 2004 for Plains game, leopard and lion.
Leopard and lion were not shot. I killed a kudu at 300+ yards. It is a GREAT hunting calibre. I do consider it light for elephant and buff, but I would prefer my 9,3 double Chapuis to my 375 bolt for any Dangerous Game.
I shot my 2 buff and 3 elephants with my 450 No2, but while hunting plains game I was very close to elephants several times while carrying the 9,3. I just loaded 2 solids untill we were clear of the elephants. I knew the 9,3 would reach the brain if I did my part.

A 9,3x74R double is a great hunting rifle.
