I just spotted two really great looking safari rifles from Hill Country Rifles that are absolutely loaded with features. These are available in .375 H&H and .416 Remington, and their configuration seems to be just about perfect, with a sub MOA guarantee. They're in-stock and immediately available as well.

The ones I saw were about $1,900 in 375 which I thought was pretty good. It was a nicely tuned M70 with a McMillan stock. My brother has shot one quite a bit and was pleased as well.

Allen,
I have just purchased a Safari Synthetic from Hill Country in .375 H&H. It shot under an inch with Federal Premium 300 grain Trophy Bonded. I worked up a load using 270 grain Barnes XLC and it shoots close to one half inch. Mine has Lilja barrel which is an option. The workmanship seems great with feeding and extraction being superb. They typically use a Winchester control feed model 70 action. I'm impressed enough with mine that I am going to have them do a larger caliber in this style rifle.

What style stock do they use? Is it the standard McMillan Winchester Safari Style or a proprietary design? Is there any cast off in the stock? Thanks.

The stock they use is their own proprietory design. Earl Bridges, and member of the ACGG, is their professional stockmaker, and this stock was copied and built exclusively for Hill Country Rifles by McMillan.

Greg Rodriguez has a beautiful 416 they built for hilm. Maybe he'll chime in.

I have dealt with HHR for years with great success. I have a new 300WSM from them with a left hand Montana Rifle action in Mod 70. The stock is a Macmillan in Sako classic style.

Very good gun. Matt Butterworth at HHR is a good guy.
