Greetings! As the title implies, I am really thinking about a hunt for these two species and only these species. In other words, I can't afford to tack them on to a Buff hunt in Mozambique. Who knows of the best places (ideally unfenced) to hunt them?

On a related note, I am also thinking of Cape Grysbok and Blue Duiker which would necessitate RSA obviously. Anyone know a good outfitter there specializing in the little guys?

Thanks so much in advance!

tendrams, I did my Cape and Blue with Gary Tonks (sub for Mark DeWet) down in the Cape but sadly he is no longer hunting. My main man for these guys is Mark DeWet. I did my Red with Mark in Natal and then we drove to Moz for my Suni. You can also get Sharpes Grysbok in this area of Moz. We drove and it took extra time but saved that charter into Moz. We went thru Kruger and forded the Limpopo at the border. The days drive from Kruger to camp was interesting. Mark posts here once and a while. If you are interested in following this up let me know. As Larry says below no Buffalo necessary in Moz.

Ten - PM me for some info on a great place in Moz. You would not have to add Buff there, also lots of Oribi and other plains game of possible interest.

I would still try Zambezi Delta Safaris with Mark Haldane. I have taken both there, they are there in tremendous numbers, and it should be a two day affair at the worst. I'd call him at the least.

Without a doubt , Hilton Sanders of the Box H.
He has the best success record on the mini antelope and has taken more people to their Mini 10 then any other PH in SA and possibly in Africa.
If you want to go home with the best quality Minis in Africa speak to Hilton.

He has just taken the new RW No 3 Damara Dik-Dik and he and client both agree that no 1 is still up there. The client could not see it in his scope at sunset.

Red Duiker and Suni we have great areas for and can add Blue Duiker and Sharpes to that list on one Safari.

On a side note Hilton is stepping back from the hunting side and focusing on his Farming, so if you want to go after them with the best you have probably this season and one more after that to make use of one of the best around.

If you want to contact him PM me and I will pass on his details. Alternatively email me on hunt(at)bushpighunt(dot)co(dot)za

Thanks

Damn, sounds like a awesome trip and I enjoyed hunting the minis on my last trip. This could get me over sooner than later.

Thanks!

Ditto Dave Fulton's recommendation for Zambeze Delta Safaris, Mark Haldane company. I took Suni and Red Duiker and several other critters including Buffalo.

Best regards, D. Nelson

A South African hunt for sure. Charl of Infinito Safaris, also specializes in these hunts. tu2 Hilton assisted me and Charl in June on my Oribi hunt. Both of them are great guys. Big Grin Hilton is indeed stepping away from hunting to concentrate on his farming and very large family. He and I spoke at great length about that. Check out my Bucket List Hunt on page two of African Hunting Reports for some pics of all of the tiny critters that I shot in June of this year. There's a pic of Hilton and Charl together in the Buck List Hunt Report as well Smiler Charl is currently hunting in Mozambique until October 12th, but you can reach him on his sat phone at 870776403293 at 20:00 GMT.

Another vote for Zambezi Delta Safaris with Mark and Glen Haldane in Coutada 11 & 12 Mozambique. We are talking world record class Red Duiker, Suni and Blue Duiker. They have many world records of these species. I used a handgun in 2003 for Suni and again in 2005 for Red Duiker new #1's. They have bettered each more than once since then, with both rifle and handgun. I missed what could have been a new #1 Blue Duiker in 2005 as well.

I seriously doubt you could do better anywhere in africa with any other outfitter.

Hello Tendrams

I hunted in South Africa a few years ago just for the small antelopes. Better prices than in Mozambique.

My Outfitter wasToby Cilliers of Born To Hunt Safaris
His Web Site is : http://bornhunt.co.za

SUNNI

Red Duiker

Cape Grysbok

Blue Duiker.

I then went to Namibia and got a Damara Dik Dik, with another outfitter who is no longer in business

Damned near looks like the neighbors dogs huh?
Cute lil things.
Hey, what's the gun you're holding? Looks like more than two barrels on it.
Glad you had a great hunt and didn't blow 'em in half doing it. That's the problem I see cropping up when they're that small.
Thanks for sharing the great pictures with us.
