Following Bill/Oregon's post on the kit of the 1960s etc, I thought some of you might enjoy a free read of Hunting Adventures In Big Game Country by John McCutcheon. It's a great read and he talks about all kinds of things including coming across the FDR safari in the middle of nowhere and also includes weird packing lists and silly cartoons. You can get a sampler here: http://www.shakariconnection.c...john-mccutcheon.html or read the whole book FOC online by clicking the 'IN AFRICA' title at the top of the page and if you want to buy a copy just go to the bottom of the page. I highly recommend it!

The FDR Safari?! WTF!!!! Was he all alone in his wheelchair? You must mean the TR Safari, right? (Wrong Roosevelt, Steve-and yes there was a difference!)

UEG Chapter 8 Here: http://www.shakariconnection.com/in-africa.html I've gotta say, this is one of the funniest hunting books I've read in years! And you'll find the book FDR wrote about his safari 'African Game Trails' here: http://www.shakariconnection.c...frica-authors-r.html

Ooops. I guess I must have had a blonde moment or an early onset of oldtimers disease. I did of course mean TR. Sorry 'bout that!

For that blond moment of yours: TR: vs. FDR: Oh, and guess who was the Republican and who was the Democrat??!!!

Eish, we're probably gonna have someone coming along just now to ask if that's where you end up if you shoot one of them with a certain calibre!!! More seriously, I really don't know what was in my mind when I posted FDR instead of TR....... and I made the same bloody silly mistake not once but twice!

It wasn't a blond moment just normal. Yes African Game Trails is interesting expecially in view of the Hollier Than Thou views expressed in todays world.
