This large painting was my view for ten years when I hunted Lunga Luswishi alongside Richard Bell-Cross. I painted it on that river bank for my wife Julie who adored this place. There was smoke in the air which made for an unusual sunset.

Apologies for the low-resolution picture and for being so romantic.

Andrew,
You have remarkable talent!

Andrew, I have seen three of your paintings. Each one spoke to me.

The only time someone ever told me that they thought a painting spoke to me was an art dealer in NYC who was trying to hose me.

Yes, it is.

Especially when relaxing on Richard’s deck where lunch is served. Fish Eagles around, a nice riffle in the river, and very comfortable temps when the valley is scorching. I wish I was back there right now.

And no mosquitos at all!

Don’t worry, I’m not trying to sell you anything. And I’m not telling you that the painting “speaks to you”, I’m saying that it speaks to ME.... That is an important distinction to make.
Wink

I was just trying to find a way to explain that Andrew’s paintings capture things in a way that I rarely find, even the in paintings done by the masters.

His paintings remind me of those special memories I have made in Africa that have now been blurred by time.

Jason,

You are quite right and sometimes a painting does nothing for some yet evokes emotions in others. For example, I have lots of orders for the buffalo print simply because I suspect many of us have experienced such an image in life.

Jason and Andrew you are right about art. Every painting is not everybody. Sometimes a person's vision is so shallow, they fail to comprehend the depth of a portrait.

Even if I thought the painting shown here did not "SPEEK TO ME" I would never insult the painter with a question like the one by SHOOTAWAY just asked. Pardon my French but I've met A'holes in my 83 years of life but never one quite like Shootaway!
