What gifts do you buy your wife in Africa
I would like to ask what do you buy your wife in Africa when you return from your African safari?

I bought my wife a necklace with an pendant of Africa and a small piece of Tanzanite where Tanzania would be located. She loves it AND I got brownie points as I came home on our anniversary tu2

My first trip I bought her a silver Lion for her charm bracelet.
On my second trip to Zim, I stopped by the rock carving museum. I bought her an owl statue which she absolutely loves.

I have walked in the foot prints of the elephant, listened to lion roar and met the buffalo on his turf. I shall never be the same.

I "let" her buy her own, there. She hunts too.

Sadie goes with and buys what she wants. What we both like is the crafty things you often can find in camp that the staff made. Lots more African flavor than what you find in the gift shops.

On my first trip to Africa, I bought Wifezilla a new house.

My second trip to Africa, I bought her two weeks in Japan and a new SUV

My third trip to Africa I got off cheap with a custom built wall unit for the family room.

Wood carvings (stone too heavy and fragile for air travel) jewelry, cloth, leather goods (purse), elephant hair bracelets. Anything African. Of course, my return is her greatest gift.

PS. I'm not married but several women have been recipients of my generosity (and I theirs).

Last time I got her a Leopard trophy fee, she didn't realize it was for me!! Big Grin But when she came to know the truth it cost about double for my wallet.

Actually the most appreciated are gifts that show some of the native aspects of Africa, diamonds, are always a start. Smiler

My wife loves giraffes and elephants, and enjoys the small collectibles I bring home for her.

Of course, she also gets the benefit of surprises (usually equal to my trips). A July elephant hunt in '09 resulted in a new car, and this past trip to RSA got her a two week trip to Prague and Paris!

I don't buy her anything, she goes everywhere with me (well except the Arctic). It is great having a partner that hunts, traps and handles a fly rod. Down side is the hunting trips cost twice as much and take twice as long to save for.

Oh well, rather go with her anyways as she can cowboy up and is way tougher than most guys I meet these days.

Mrs Blacktailer goes along. She likes the indigenous crafts and artwork. Last safari we were in Tanzania so had to pick up some tanzanite. When they brought out the first tray of loose stones she said "Don't you have anything bigger?" Eeker
It's a small price to pay to have her along on the hunts.

Isn't that good enough?
We are our own worst enemies when it comes to women

My opinion is, we coddle them like little kids instead of treating them like adults and friends
So because I go hunting I have to get permission?
Or have to buy my way?

My wife usually goes with me and buys whatever she wants. If she is not with me, she gives me some instructions on what she might want me to bring back for her or for the house. Sometimes I surprise her with additional things. Big Grin

In the past two trips she accompanied me on my plains game safaris and was very pleased when on the first trip I bought her an elephant hair bracelet and necklace. During the second trip I purchased a chocolate diamond ring with a gold setting. She was very appreciative indeed. I have no idea, at this point, what to purchase for our third trip in upcoming 2015. But, I am confident she will be more than pleased. MY good!! MTG

Not technically a purchase in Africa, but on my first elephant hunt I bought my wife a gold & silver elephant hair bracelet and matching earrings and hid them in the house with a note saying "you can wear these now since you are the wife of an elephant hunter!". First chance I got after my bull was on the ground I emailed her and told her to look in that spot.

My wife is my best friend, mother of my children & business partner.
We've been married 37 years.
A friend of mine is divorcing his 3rd wife & has been telling me for years that I give romance a bad name, I think both of you have it backwards.
If I want to spoil her some, that's my business.

And then I had to buy her her very own Rifle because she decided that I should not have all the fun myself. dancing

My wife and I usually vacation separately; she got back from Berlin and Paris yesterday. We simply don't enjoy the same things.

From Africa, she has received some Tanzanite, which she loves. As well as a necklace of old trade beads, which I think she likes even more; at least she wears them more often. She even wears some Masai bead neclaces occasionally.

And, she really likes the Grant's and the East African impala in the living room.

She isn't so fond of my buffalo, who do not reside in the living room.
