I got a mail from a friend working for TGT yesterday.

They did anti poaching patrols in the area where he is working. They came across tracks of Elephant poachers.Three members of the team stayed on the tracks and the other three went forward with their vehicle. The poachers laid an ambush for the vehicle and opened fire. All three were wounded. The two employees of TGT are still in the hospital, one OK the other one not so OK. The game scout died yesterday in the hospital. The one poacher was recognoised and the police are busy following up.

I hope they catch up with them. My condolences to the family of the game scout.

Can't they make it open season on poachers clap

I'm sure people will even be willing to pay license fees.

There is a difference between poaching for food = hungry people with no other option.

Or poachers with guns obviously not poaching for food.

I always try to use enough gun but then sometimes a brainshot works just as good.

The gamescouts are now openly saying that from now on they will shoot first and then ask questions.

Who can blame them if they are up against armed thugs.

Which concession? When I was in Moyowosi last year we found 2 elephants that had been poached and one hippo. The game scout there, John, was considered by TGT to be among the best and had been doing it for over 30 years. I surely hope it was not him....Below is a pic of John (left) checking out our leopard blind with our PH, Robin Voigt.

The game scout we had this year had 4 cartridges for his 375H&H.

He would not take any ammo we offered to give him for free. We tried to say we would throw it away, and that we expected nothing in return.

No deal.

I don't know if it's a law, policy or an ethical thing for him personally. He was a really young kid (mid 20's) his dad is a game scout.

Tough job to do with 4 cartridges.
