Kenyan boy killed by hyena

A twelve-year-old boy was on Saturday mauled to death by a hungry hyena in Lodung'okwe location in Samburu East district.

The boy was attacked by the hyena as he was returning home from herding his father's goats at 6.00pm.

Samburu senior warden Mohammed Kadir confirmed the incident and said the Kenya Wildlife Service had dispatched personnel in the area to track down the killer animal.

Kadir appealed to the panic stricken residents to remain calm while KWS dealt with the animal before it causes more deaths.

Residents however accused KWS of laxity saying wild animals have been killing their livestock with no action being taken.

They threatened to mobilize and hunt down all the hyenas and lions and kill them if the organization failed to take care of rogue animals.
