Dear Guy's
When traveling in South Africa what is the 5 must see tourist attractions in the top 1/2 of the country?

If kruger is listed, is it a camp or an area that is good to visit.

Not hunting but I am sure there is good advise out there.

Thanks in advance Cam

1) Kruger, yes without a doubt a must-see. Top of the list!

2) Sun City

3) Drakensberg

4) Eastern Transvaal (Blyde River, Pilgrims Rest, God's Window etc.)

5) Zululand

and if you are here in October, the Jacaranda City (Pretoria)

Lots more to see down south as well.

I am very limited on experience in South Africa but would add 1) Stellenboasch - Wine Country tour, 2) The Cape of Good Hope, and 3) Table Top Mountain.

Best, Fred

Within Kruger, I'd suggest the Satara Camp area. We loved Satara, stayed in a large 3-bedroom house (If memory serves me, they call is Stanley House) while at the camp, it was fantastic. Had fantastic game viewing around Satara, especially to the east.

Another must-see might be to consider one of the private game reserves. We spent a couple days at Monwana Lodge in Thornybush, and had fantastic game viewing, especially for lion, leopard and cheetah.

In Kruger, we stayed at Oliphants. Great overlook of the river. They also offer night drives to see animals. There is also an animal rehab center called Maholoholo, great place. Worlds largest Baobab tree is near Kruger too.

The big hole in Kimberly is pretty cool. I bought my wife some diamond earings at the jewelry store there that impressed the hell out of her jeweller back home.
