I hunt, not to kill, but in order not to have played golf....

All thanks and hand-clapping go to the cretin that shut down the hunting in Botswana and he cannot say he wasn't forewarned on the outcome!

The other cretins who convinced him (and I wouldn't be at all surprised if this Elephant "Ecologist" was a contributor) are responsible for the shutdown and indirectly culpable for their slaughter.

Didn't we just see a report that said elephant numbers were greater than believed and increasing?

This appears on the Drudge Report. This could be the beginning of the end. These are "facts" after all.

Explaining elephant numbers is quite difficult, the fact is that most of the former range of elephants is practically devoid of them, times are changing fast, and between the poaching sprees and the human enroachment there are fewer and fewer safe areas for this colossal animals which need lots of food and space to inhabit, there exist areas were elephants are still really abundant or even overpopulated, but it is not like you can grab them and put them in the areas were there are none, not only is not physically possible but they would follow the same fate of the ones that used to inhabit that area, the times of colossal migrating herds moving between countries and feeding grounds is gone, that is why elephants start depleting their environment once they become too abundant, there still exist lots of space in Africa but in areas were elephants have been absolutely devastated by the chinese demand of ivory and will not be safe for elephants in a likely future

This made the evening news here in Nashville just now. At least they cited poachers specifically (and only)

All sorts of ads on the radio lately about elephants being gone in 10 years

Also, lots of cute elephant baby videos on Facebook to make them look Disneyesque.

Pretty much all out assault on elephant hunting

Zip from the pro hunting side.

Even in South Africa we are getting it in Local big newspapers. What they emphasize is the downturn of numbers in certain countries , but fail to mention that other countries are extremely over populated. I have written the newspaper in question , challenging their reporting.

The hunting organizations who are so fast to take money , shine in their absence to counter these misrepresented figures.

John doe in the street reads these articles and thinks " There are not enough Elephants left , soon there will be none "

The next time he gets approached to sign a petition to ban import of Elephant trophies into his country , State or stop the hunting completely , he's signing it , with a clear conscience.

As has been said before, hunters need to play the offensive and not always the defensive. We need to reach out and educate the general public.Which ever social media is accessible to hunters should be at least used to get our conservation message across.

A word of advice to anyone booked to hunt Tanzania:

Should you you be lucky enough to shoot an Elephant, do not wear its hair bracelet nor any other part of its anatomy as any of these trinkets will likely land you in the can.

In fact it would be very wise not to get caught in possession of ANY animal part, whether it be the skeletal remains of a frog or Warthog tusk.

TZ has for too long been under the radar and criticised for not doing enough in the anti-poaching field that the authorities have now pulled up their sleeves and are also scrutinizing luggage contents with a vengeance.

Exactly!

How many years we have been saying that POACHING was going to eliminate wildlife in Africa.

The South Africans spent millions breeding rhinos, and when they want to get some money for their efforts, the whole bloody world is standing against them!!

I wonder how many cows, sheep and pigs we would have if they were not bred for human benefits!

At all levels the hunting community needs to take the offensive to combat the Anti's and poaching. For me its a big reason that I am supporting Trump. We need a massive outbreak of common sense. We have to get our message and reasoning to the public at large not just us preaching to the choir.
