UPDATED 1/29...Buzz called and said he talked Gibson (Big5) out of 2-more tuskless tags if interested.

Buzz Charlton asked me to post this on the forum. I have no financial interest in this whatsoever. It would be nice to see an AR member be able to take advantage of this.

12-Days @ $550/day
Tags for (2) Tuskless Cow Elephants ($2500/ea)
Chewore North Gov't Concession (Big-5 Safaris)
Client allowed to export skins IF desired (~$500 d/p)
Boat and fishing equipment provided at N/C
Nice permanent camp w/all food, drinks, etc.

The hunt must be schedule in 2005 although dates are somewhat flexible. Early season (April/May) the hunting is challenging but rewarding. Late season (Oct/Nov) is easier and there is the possibility of additional quota (limited plainsgame, hippo, hyena, etc).

In my humble opinion, this is the "best" valued hunt out there for under $12,000. Nothing compares to hunting elephant in the jesse. And $550/d just to BE in Chewore is a bargain.

I hunted two tuskless w/Buzz in April 04...awesome hunt. Here's a link to the Web Album: Photo Album

Travel to Chewore (in the mid Zambezi Valley) is via charter or coordinate w/Buzz or partner Myles to drive from Harare (~8-10hr drive/tour, through Mana Pools). PH will depend on scheduling.

Make sure to visit the "Petrified Forest" fossil area.

Email Buzz at buzz@cmsafaris.com with any questions or to book.

Website is: www.cmsafaris.com (Click Here)

Buzz has a booth at the SCI show if anybody wants to stop by. His cell phone in the States is 214 704 8351.

Damn Will:

That'll make 20 elephants, won't it. Should we speak of you in reverent terms like Selous, Taylor, Bell and the rest of the blessed?

All I can say is that I'm going to try to catch up with you somehow. There's nothing like elephant hunting! I've only secured an E hunt planned in the Selous for 2006 and Botswana in 2007, but give me about 15 years (if Africa doesn't sink) and I'll catch you butt! Razzer

JudgeG ... just counting time 'til I am again finding balm in Gilead chilled out somewhere in the Selous.

I was thinking about doing this. I didn't know you could export the hides from the non-trophy elephant. That makes it a lot more interesting. You could probably pay for a good part of the safari if you could get them chrome tanned and sell most of the hide for boots and bags. Of course you would want to keep a good part of it for yourself. As it would be fantastic seat covers for the rover.

CITES now allows Zimbabwe, Nambia and RSA to deal in elephant leather. Not certain as to all the rules, but this probably now allows the export of elephant hides.

Regards,

Terry

Bill I would really like to hear more about your tuskless hunt. I think it sounds great. I was thinking about doing this instead of a tusker as you would get more shooting, and I don't need a shoulder mount ellie in my house.

You get to keep the skins, and that's the part that's the most important anyway. It's a lifetime supply of the toughest leather in the world.

PM if you must.

I greatly appreciate it.

kokdyer - Buzz called and said that Big 5 gave him two additional tuskless tags. I don't know for sure if he sold them or not. Send me an email if you want to chat about the hunt.
