My wife and I have hired a car for a four hour tour of the city while we are in London on our layover to Lusaka.

Any input on the time and difficulties on reentering Heathrow? We will just have our carry ons.

Thanks Sprig sofa

Sprig,

You should have no problems from a paperwork perspective as your luggage ect will be checked through and stay airside, but I would be awefully nervous leaving Heathrow if I only had 4 hours to spare.

It recently took me 35 minutes just to get from one terminal to another within the airport it is so big.

Once you are in London proper, you are then at the mercy of the traffic and that can be really bad at times..

Regards,

Pete

If you only have a 4 hour layover you don't really have time to get into London and back out again. It might be a better idea (if you don't want to stay in the airport) to have a quick tour of Windsor instead. ........

I am guessing that you are takeing British Air with a stop in D.C. or Chi town. if so lay over
is 8 to 10 hrs. The driver will know what is near. I always take the train and walk a bit. But many things you will see are near each other. Say you get to Trafalgar Sq. There are 5 or 6 things within walking distance. If you want any more info let me know.I have never driven out of Heathrow but I bet the express train to Paddington Station would get you into town Faster.

Sorry, I misunderstood!

how about the Natural History Museum - I believe they still have the record tusks on display. There's also the other museums and Kensington Gardens & Palace.
