Well I guess it finally made the rounds! I posted this here two weeks ago. Now it's been to all the sites and finally come back home!

Jim,

Kind of like your mountain lion photo. That thing was killed in about a dozen Texas counties, plus a couple of places in New Mexico.

It looks "staged" to me. The deer's head is "bent" in the wrong direction. If it was a fresh kill, the head would be bent down/back towards the crocagator as it swims. It looks like it was a deer that was killed, bent/twisted to fit in the bed of a pickup truck, left sitting for a while to get stiff, then tossed in the water.

You could be right, but I think the head is hanging down, not away from the crocigator.

Well, the critter (I don't think it's a deer, is it?) probably is stiff from rigormortis, as it obviously has been dead awhile--note no blood. But does that mean it's staged? I don't think so. Is that critter an alligator or a croc? I don't know them well enough to be able to tell from this angle, but I thought it was a croc, thus not a deer.

I have no clue, but it looked like a croc with a female impala to me at first glance.

The narrow beak suggests that it's a crocodile.
