Uganda: Lion Disappears in National Park Gerald Tenywa 19 September 2009 Kampala — A LION named after US President Barack Obama has disappeared from Queen Elizabeth National Park. "We put a radio collar on the lion on November 7 around the time when Obama was elected US President last year," said lion expert Ludwig Siefert. A collar fitted with a small radio transmitter when attached to a wild animal can be used to track the animal's movements. Obama was moving from Lake Katwe, a favourable area for lions towards Nyamugasani area in the north-western part of the park, when the trackers received one of the last signals from him. A total of 14 lions out of 60 living in the park have been fitted with radio collars.
