Lord Derby eland for me, and I'll never have one. Bongo in life-size comes close, but they're too pretty for me to want to kill. (Kudos to those who have and/or will.)

Being the frugal old Yankee that I am, i factor in the trophy fees when evaluating a “striking trophy”. In my mind, kudu and gemsbok are equally striking, but the trophy fee for kudu is double that of gemsbok charged by the outfit that I hunt with in Namibia ( Sebra Hunting Safaris). Another factor in favor of gemsbok is their table fare- kudu is really tasty, but gemsbok is simply the best tasting meat in the world IMHO.

I think a Tahr in full winter coat is something to behold.

Other than our Lion, “Skanky” the Hyena draws the most comments. People tend to give it a wide berth as if it will bite them. Marvelous work of art by Jerry Huffaker.

For me, the nyala, but my wife says the sable. She took hers with a single shot from her 30-06. Among the ones we have never hunted: sitatunga, bongo, and mountain nyala.

Eland. In my house, the Eland absolutely dominates the wall in a way that makes my Kudu look small.

I definitely still want Roan and Sable and Gemsbok - that will probably be my next hunt...if and when that happens!

The nicest looking African trophy mounts IMO are the Kudu and the Nyala. I have never shot either and have no plans, but IMO they are pretty.

Include the Big Five and my top three would be buffalo, buffalo, and buffalo (I have 3 buff shoulder mounts). They are totally "striking" and dominate the room IMO.

For NA, I would rate a big brown bear full-body mount as most striking.

And a bighorn sheep as most pretty.

1+ on the Nyala if you get a full body mount as the legs are really nice..The Kudu would be my second, the Bongo would be #1 if I could get one.

They are all nice especially if you hunted hard to find them and they are good representatives of a mature animals.

Indeed. It's a privilege to take a trophy specimen. Even a privilege to hunt one in the first place. Hunted hard and honestly makes the best memories to savour.

The free-range Barbary sheep in South Africa would be high on my list!

Like others have said it can depend on lots of things.

I get more comments on my gemsbok than anything else, even though hes not overly large in the horn department. My 58" kudu was very old and run down from rutting. His coat was not in very good shape. I get lots of look how big that thing is. Not many on how pretty he is.

When I get back to Africa Nyala will be on the top of my list. I think there the prettiest of the southern Africa animals.
