Hello,

I hope this is the right forum for my question.

I'm planning my first hunt in Africa, and was wondering if anybody has booked through Jeff Martinell of www.Luxuryhunts.com. I would be very interested in your experience.

Any information you can provide about the above company would be greatly appreciated.

Never heard of him. Before booking, check with his last 5 clients that booked to where you want to go and see what they tell you.

BulldogMaster: That's a good idea, I don't know why I didn't think of that. I'm sure he'll be more than happy to supply me with that information if he had happy clients.

ddrhook: I am planning on hunting plains game, and from the information I have gathered so far, I think Zimbabwe is my country of choice.

From what I have found so far this booking agent suits my needs best, considering the following factors:

-No fences
-Species offered in package
-Cost
-Chance of seeing, not hunting, elephant, buffalo, hippo, crocodile.

When I first tried booking my first (only) hunt, with a well-known poster on this forum, it simply wouldn't come together and eventually degenerated into a near-disaster that would have forced me to wait an extra year. I then called Wendell Reich (Hunter's Quest), based on his reputation and reviews here, and he made the trip happen. Best decision I could have made! There are more than enough other details to fret over.

Sound advice for sure, but I would advise you that the most important thing you can take to Africa is an Open Mind. Do not get hung up on pre-concieved notions. Also not only is the choice of Outfitter important, but check references on your PH as well. Just my .02 cents worth.

Austi...

Take a look at Brooklands Safaris.

The property in the SAVE [Zimbabwe] is awsome for plainsgame, and they have monster cape buff as well.

Their PH's Dale and Graeme are first class.

I have done 2 Safaris with them, a 30 day and a 35 day.
