Folks,

Does anyone know what the bow hunting permit in '13 will cost in Zim? Also does a Park's person really need to accompany the bow hunter and at what cost? I'd like to get an answer today and my usual sources are hunting.

THX

Mark

Hi Mark,

Parks increased all their prices.I believe a bow hunting permit is now $1500.Parks ranger will only accompany you in a Parks area, not on private land. But then again, bow hunting is illegal on parks estates. Can only conduct bow hunts on private land or campfire areas.

Peter,

Thanks. Unfortunately that was what I thought it costs.

Yes the figure is $1500. Absolutely rediculous when you consider about 3 years ago it was $100 or so. Last year it was $400 and that was bad enough. I guess Zim parks is sending a loud and clear message to Bowhunters.......

Hi Mark,

$1500 for the permit and $100 per day for a Parks Ranger. You shouldn't need a ranger on private land, but for dangerous game I have always had to have one.....not sure why? A dangerous game hunt must also be filmed and the footage of the shot on the dangerous game must be handed in to National Parks. This was initially first the case as they wanted to see proof that a bow was an effective weapon. It remains the same.

Bvekenya and Thierry, you are wrong on the private land. Clause 9 , i believe, states that you need a park ranger with you due to the bow permit.Their is no exemption due to private land, so this means on private land as well. if you can get away with it, then go for it. saves you another $100 a day for the ranger that has no idea about bows in the first place.
