http://www.herald.co.zw/index....ocal-news&Itemid=131 25 buffaloes die Wednesday, 24 October 2012 00:00 Herald Correspondent At least 25 buffaloes recently died at Kazungula National Park near Victoria Falls after getting stuck in the mud in a flooded swamp while attempting to drink water. Matabeleland North police spokesperson Inspector Billie Dube yesterday said the buffaloes were found dead and stuck in mud by National Parks and Wildlife Management Authority ranger Mr Sorobium Mashange while on patrol at Katombora. “The buffaloes were stuck in the mud and were in a decomposing state, 13 were adults while 12 were calves,’’ said Inspector Dube. He said wildlife authorities suspected that the beasts were part of the many buffaloes that crossed the muddy area as witnessed by the many hoof tracks. It is common for some buffaloes to get trapped in the mud and die, but it is rare to have such big numbers at once. The swamp where the buffaloes got stuck was flooded recently after heavy rains pounded the area along the Zambezi River. Very unfortunate happening. If it were not in a park, from the title, I'd thought Saeed had finished one safari and went immediately on another! .395 Family Member DRSS, po' boy member Political correctness is nothing but liberal enforced censorship | |||
