That is one of the best photos ever. I am sitting here watching volume 7 of your DVDs and a buffalo is about to get it.

If I'm not mistaken, the buffalo are doing it to a hunter.

I saw this too and copied it for a screen saver.

It's much like that video a year or so ago about the lions grabbing a buffalo calf, fighting with crocs over it and the buffalo herd's eventually rescuing the calf by chasing off the lions.

I have not seen it for a while, but I seem to recall one lion's getting tossed. It probably is still available on YouTube.

My mistake - it was way back in 2007. The YouTube video is called "Battle At Kruger" and has had 71 million views.

We just saw this very same thing 2 weeks ago in Moz. As we came over the hill, we saw the buffalo chasing a young male lion, and they were on his tail!

Unfortunately it happened so fast that we couldn't get it on film, but it was cool to see.

Great photo - perfect position and timing.

I have never seen anything like this. In my experience, the tables have always favored the lion.

We have hunted the same buffalo as a hunting group of lions were hunting several times. In effect, we were hunting "driven buffalo" courtesy of the lions.

Sometimes we saw the lions, always females and sub-adults, pushing the buffalo through the tall grass; sometimes not.

It was cool to be competing with them as predators.

Of course, they would kill anything. We were more selective. Cool

Many years ago I read a report of an Indian hunter watching a jungle fowl hen leap up and hammer a tigress in the face with both wings while the chicks went into hiding. The tigress retreated in surprise!
