This Neumann's Hartebeest was taken in the Sala concession the first afternoon after we landed. It's over 22" and will be somewhjere inthe top 5 SCI. This is an average size Nile Buffalo (Syncerus caffer equinoxis) from the Sala COncession. Currently there are only 6 licnese per year avaialble for Nile Buffalo. If Gambella opens there will only be 2 more added to that total. This is a 51" Abyssinian Greater Kudu. Notice how small the body is. Makes the homrs look 60" when compared to a Southern Greater Kudu. This animal will probably make the top 10 SCI. Rich Elliott

Rich, Great pics. It would be great if you could keep us updated on the stories of those hunting with you in Ethiopia! Also could you fill us in on the shorter hunts one can do in Ethopia for East African trophies like lesser kudu and gerenuk without having to book 21 days? For those of us that can't be away from jobs for a month, this gives us ideas for alternatives to booking 21 days and only hunting 12 to 14. Thanks and good hunting.

Bwanamrm, We have a 15 day safari that includes lesser kudu, S. Gerenuk, Tiang, N. Grants Gazelle, Guenther's dik dik and a few other critters like Black backed jackal, common jackal, and hyenea. Can taylor make some add on's for other species like Giant Forest hog or Menelik's bushbuck. The Omo Sala combination includes Nile buffalo and requires 21 days. Rich Elliott

Rich, At the NRA convention this afternoon, during the hunting-africa seminar, Don Causey said he considered Ethiopia the premier hunting destination in all of Africa. He and Craig Boddington were both excellent. It was worth the 300 mile drive just for this two hours.

Boghossian, Yes & Yes. The quotas are rediculously small. I've seen the photos from the arial survey. I also have a copy of the report. The quotas are are 4 Nile Bushbuck, 4 Sudan Bohor, 2 Nile buffalo (lots of herds there), 6 Nile lechwe (about right) and unlimited White eared Kob. Who wants to go all that way and spend all of that $$$ for just a white eared kob? We expect to do two 15 day plains game only and two 21 day inc. Nile Buffalo. If someone only wants Nile lechwe and kob that can be arranged. The ethnic unrest has caused us to put it all off by one year. Everyone is rescheduled. We would have probably been okay but the staff and scouts would have been at risk. It's Anuuaks and Nuers against the highland Ethiopian and each other for that matter. Rich Elliott
