Total shame. Wish the best for the people there. Had hoped to hunt there one day. But I'm getting old. May not happen.

These problems in West Africa can really spell the end of all hunting of West African species of game. Think about it Cameroon is the last place left for these species. Benin also, but the problems in Burkina are only 50 miles away and there was an incident this year after the hunting season in Benin. They have stepped up patrols and going ahead with the season! But........ Arjun Reddy Hunters Networks LLC 30 Ivy Hill Road Brewster, NY 10509 Tel: +1 845 259 3628 2020, DSC booth # 2350 2020, SCI booth # 3167

Unlike the Mexico conversion in the American sub forum, here in Reddy375 is a guy who sales hunts in the area of civil unrest telling us the truth of the facts where he sells hunts. He does so without being asked. I hate this situation, but appreciate Reddy375’s unsolicited honesty. I fear this will spread Across Africa. Last month in the Congo they killed doctors fight Ebola!

These poor folks need the 2e Régiment étranger de parachutistes. Tout de suite. But I am afraid the French, perhaps wisely, but perhaps not, have given up the fight. Mike Wilderness is my cathedral, and hunting is my prayer.

I worked in an American Embassy for 3 years from 2010-2013. It is a weird place. I was on active duty in the military when I worked there. You are fairly involved in the other embassies near by. I was in Australia and we had daily communications with New Zealand, Fiji, and all the SE Asia/South Pacific countries. Got to meet a lot of career foreign service folks, and many of them had tragic stories of similar situations to what is going on in Burkina Faso. I also spent about 4 months living in Incrilik Turkey, 3 months was back in the bad old days when we lived in a tent city and flew missions into Iraq from the North. The other month was in 2009, and it was a stark difference, as the families had been evacuated because of the terrorism on the base and out in town. Did multiple tours to Camp Lemonier in Djibouti. Several times in the good days when we were going out in town during off time, and one final time when the American embassy had evacuated families, and children. This happens more regularly than you hear about. It is a standard part of foreign service life. Someone will get murdered, or kidnapped and they will send all the families home. The sad thing is that is usually takes an event, they don't do it when they should do it, they do it when they have to do it.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-50908880 Burkina Faso: Many women killed in suspected jihadist attack 6 hours ago Suspected Islamist militants have killed 35 civilians, 31 of them women, in an attack on a military base and a town in Burkina Faso, officials say. They say seven soldiers and 80 militants were also killed as the army repelled Tuesday's attack in Arbinda, in northern Soum province. President Roch Marc Christian Kaboré declared two days of national mourning. Jihadist groups have stepped up attacks in Burkina Faso and other West African countries, in recent years. The violence has continued despite Western efforts to help regional governments combat the insurgents. In November, 13 French troops died in a helicopter collision during an operation in southern Mali, near the border with Burkina Faso. Last weekend, French President Emmanuel Macron highlighted the fight against militants in the Sahel region during a visit to Niger. "The coming weeks are absolutely decisive for our fight against terrorism," he said. Tuesday's attack was carried out by dozens of fighters on motorbikes and lasted several hours. No group has so far said it was behind it, but groups allied to al-Qaeda or Islamic State are active in the region. "This barbaric attack resulted in the deaths of 35 civilian victims, most of them women," President Kaboré said in a statement. He also praised the "heroic action of our soldiers" who battled the assailants. Earlier this month, at least 14 people were killed after gunmen opened fire inside a church in the east of the country. Burkina Faso, a predominantly Muslim country, was once relatively stable but has descended into serious unrest since 2015. About 700 people have been killed and 560,000 displaced. The conflict spread across the border from neighbouring Mali, where Islamist militants took over the north of the country in 2012 before French troops pushed them out. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/1...ps-africa-china.html “ WASHINGTON — Defense Secretary Mark T. Esper is weighing proposals for a major reduction — or even a complete pullout — of American forces from West Africa as the first phase of reviewing global deployments that could reshuffle thousands of troops around the world, according to officials familiar with internal deliberations. The discussions of a large-scale pullback from West Africa include abandoning a recently built $110 million drone base in Niger and ending assistance to French forces battling militants in Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso. The deliberations stem from a push to reduce post-9/11 missions battling terrorist groups, and instead to refocus Pentagon priorities on confronting so-called Great Powers like Russia and China.” When I hunted burkina in 2014 some of these drone operators were on the flight back to Paris and then onto the us. They boarded in Niger. Mike

I wonder if there were ever any inquisitions against French soldiers related to purported incidents of unethical combat against this type of fighting force (Boko Haram)?
