Tuli Block. Not the highest point in Botswana, but Close! This one had to be more than 20 feet tall from its ancient base, and still active, I think. Can anyone top this trophy mound? Would this qualify for SCI Inner Circle or Saeed's Outer Circle, and would I have to shoot it first to qualify? An entomology PhD candidate found this picture of me and "The Mound" on the internet and asked permission to use it in some part of his work. I wonder how a thesis on termite mounds would read? I am sure Alf could expound a bit on termite mounds.

A new phrase is coined. First there was "bore envy," now "mound envy." The base of this one has vegetation growing on it. I'm in the photo, 6 feet tall, so the mound is well over 20 feet. Top that anybody!

Here is mine. I'm very proud of it although I did shoot it from the truck. ____________________________________________ "Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life." Terry Pratchett.

RIP, you are truly in fine form with this one. As for the punsters, I will only say this: Why was the little ant confused? Because all of his uncles were ants. Mike Wilderness is my cathedral, and hunting is my prayer.

That's what most folks think but actually it was all due to the fact that he simply couldn't figure out who was eating his anty-pasto.

This specimen shows great girth at base, typical conformation, good length and mass all around. Should score very well in the trophy book. A Gold Medal Mound for sure! Thanks for sharing the Trophy Termite Mounds guys. This really turns my crank, as much, or more than, buffalo, elephant, or lion. And thanks to all for the kind comments about my African Passion.

Lhook7, Cute. Thanks. Richard Dreyfuss from _Close Encounters_. Devil's Tower. That is the first National Monument of the USA, declared by President Teddy Roosevelt, in 1906. I think TR had termite mounds "In the Blood" too. That is what called him to Africa for the great safari of 1909. My people, the Lakota, had it "In the Blood" too. Devil's Tower was most sacred to them. They called it Mato Tipila or Bear's Lodge. Bear Tipi. Powerful stuff!
Alf, I knew you could come through with some interesting Termite Mound Trivia. Thanks.
