There will be a full public announcement in due course regarding licensing fees (reduced), trophy export permit and Conservation Fee abolished, among several others.

The 10, 16 & 21 day programs will still be in force though I am reliably informed that there will be more of a variety of species available on each permit, unlike in the past.

On the downside, trophy fees have been increased to figures that would match neighboring hunting destinations.

The hole seems to be getting deeper by the day. coffee

Seems they are trying to lower fees on the front end and raise them on the back end.

One big reason for the high cost of safaris in Tanzania is that the operating cost there is high. It would be difficult for the government to affect real price reductions to the client unless they lower block fees and partially fund anti-poaching programs in the hunting areas.

I believe something similar happened in the early days whereby instead of buying tags upfront, you basically paid for what you killed. The intention (at least part) was to prevent hunters from taking immature animals just because they had already bought a tag. You lower the barrier to entry so people can hunt hard but lessen the pressure to just take something because he money is already paid. Not exactly sure that was the intent here but maybe?

Years ago Zimbabwe had the best system.

A concession is given an annual quota.

A hunter is issued a license, and pays for anything he shoots.

A concession owner can let one hunter, under one license, shoot everything.

All Tanzania did was make it complicated.

Interesting to see what happens. I leave to hunt Masailand in July...

Bwanajay leaves in August.

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!
- Rudyard Kipling

Life grows grim without senseless indulgence.

You might want to contact the outfitter and obtain a clearer picture.

For those who remember we had a similar "revision" of rules which affected the trophy fees while clients were in the field, resulting in unpleasant and embarrassing repercussions.

If its of any consolation these new regulations will or should be announced prior to the start of the season which anyway is still on short notice with just one month remaining.

Bookings are done years in advance, so the game department making changes a month before the season is utterly ridiculous!
