Man dies in croc attack

Bindura Bureau April 8, 2008

A 50-YEAR-OLD Mushumbi Pools man was attacked and killed by a crocodile while watering his garden along the banks of Hunyani River.

Mashonaland Central police spokesperson Inspector Michael Munyikwa confirmed the incident, which he said occurred on March 27.

Bhaureni Muropa, of Kakono village under Chief Chitsuno, had been accompanied to the garden by his wife Ms Deria Nyanhamba (54).

Insp Munyikwa said Muropa’s wife was not

nearby when the incident occurred but later

realised that her husband had been taken away by a crocodile.

She then rushed to inform other villagers who reported the matter at Mushumbi Police Station.

Police attended the scene but the body is yet to be found.

There used to be a law in Zim that prevented you from cultivating within 30m of a stream/river to prevent siltation of the rivers. It is sad to know that enforcement and even knowlege of the law has long since disappeared.

Sure, right . . . that's her story. My wife has been encouraging me to go on skin diving trip on the Zambezi.

Mike:

After seeing you in person, I can't blame her!

Sorry buddy, that was a cheap shot, and I apologize. I hope all is well with you and your family. I look forward to the time we can share the hunting camp fire again. Stay safe on your upcoming safari!

Paul,

The truth hurts and I cannot take issue with your candor. I feel that I am well on my way to being a "Super Sized" MacCroc order.

It is one thing to hear this from your wife, but when your friends turn on you . . . Wink

Mike:

The truth hurts, and I have to duck the harpoons at the beach these days.

All the best to you and yours. All in good fun, I hope you realize - that is the sign of a true friend.

Paul,

I enjoy a good joke, even if it is on me. No offense taken.
