Last we I ask a two part question, what do you want and this week it's what did you get?

I'll go first.
I wanted a Bighorn hunt and a hunt in New Zealand.
As I mentioned in the last post, I've done Bighorn and NZ before, plus I have my Tanz. hunt already together for this year and a BC horseback hunt for 2011 with my son and son in law.

I booked a 2011 Bighorn Hunt with Elk Valley Bighorn Outfitters.
I ended up booking 2 New Zealand hunts, one with Four Season's and one with Fraser Safaris. If I'm traveling that far I figured might as well do two.

What really suprised me was my wife's spending. She about cleaned us out. 4 oil paintings, numerous baskets and carvings, an Eagle (chicken and turkey feathers used) but most of all a 21 day photo safari for her, my daughter and her sister to Tanzania and Ruwanda. Wow I'd like to do that one, but I wasn't invited.

I was hoping to go home with almost as much money as I arrived with.
Apparently I forgot to tell my wife. She bought the "green" white rhino hunt with Tam Safaris. How can you not love a wife like that!

Mrs. SL got a nice Patrick Mavros necklace. She was also recognized by some for her candid pajama photos with my leopard. Thanks to all that brought that to her attention.

I got NOTHING new. Did not spend a dollar on anything but food, drink and hotel room.

I did pay a deposit on my 2012 hunt for lion, leopard, and buffalo. I guess that makes it official.

Got to meet some AR posters in person for the first time at the Giraffe Bar. It was fun. Thanks to all of you nice folks that attended the get together.

got to meet Mrs S-L at the Giraffe Bar. Such a nice, attractive, well dressed young woman.
I never did figure if the guy with her was their chauffeur or a bodyguard.

My buddy had a booth (fishing) at Reno and he said a guy at a booth across from him told him he sold a 52 day African hunt for $350,000. He couldn't give me any details.
Anyone here know the details?

I bought a Zim elephant hunt with Zambezi Hunters.

I didn't buy but agreed to bid on a Desert Big Horn auction at some fundraiser in 3 weeks.

And finally a note to Quickshot:

I was waiting for someone to say that. Pretty funny.

I saw those Verney Carrons too! I got pretty warm and cuddly with the 500NE.

Nice fit and finish for the money.

Didn't spend any $...(except for those $8 beers)

Enjoyed the AR get together very much; had dinner with Buzz and Myles; had good visits with Mark Young, Aaron Neilson, Roger Whittall, Johan Strosheim, met my Argentina outfitter and property owner for March hunt, saw quite a few old friends and folks I have hunted with in the past, and generally had a good time.

Glad to see and meet many of you...

Good Hunting,

It looks as if the boss was on a mission to beat you to the new trophy room's wall space. Lets have lunch, you can recognize me as I will be the green guy.

Organized a 10 Day Buffalo hunt with Zambezi Hunters with PH Thierry Labat.

It will be a couple year wait but will be well worth it. I hunted with Thierry for Buffalo once before when he was working for Roger Whittall. Figured I better get something on paper now so I can save my pennies.

The missus said yes so I signed on the dotted line before she took her word back.

The hunt with Johan Calitz was booked prior to the show, but we met all the Professional Hunters and really liked Johan's son, Cobus. He will be our PH this September.

The 2011 High Altai Argali/ibex hunt in Mongolia was pushed back to 2012. Hopefully the U.S. import permit situation will be rectified soon.

Rumor was China was supposed to announce the reopening of hunting at SCI. We really want to do China and Pakistan so we will hunt one or the other in 2011, preferably China in 2011 and Pakistan in 2013.

It was great to meet everyone at the Giraffe Bar on Friday.

I finalized my booking with Zambezi Hunters for buffalo and leopard in 2011. There could be a sable in there too, if everything works out. Thierry Labat will be the PH. Thierry has a great record for producing great trophies for his clients and it seems word is getting out.
Again thanks to Mark Young for his help!

Get from? Hell, I couldn't even get to the convention! The road conditions were so bad we'd have had to drive clear to Las Vegas and then head north. It would have taken two days each way. Much as I hated to do it, I forfeited my admission. Anything else would have been throwing good money after bad. And I'm really bummed out about it, too! Oh well, see y'all next year!

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.
